Exhaust: I started out with 4, 1 3/4 U bends and 2 cones from the alliance vender, Cone Engineering. For the Flanges, i cut them out of 1/4 inch flat stock and used a hole-saw to make the port. I started out with the front port and cut a curved section, For the other 3 pipes, i cut a section again and will make the same cut on all three, just changing the length of the straight portion of the tube. I started with the end one because it will be the longest tube, so if i mess up (which i did) it will still fit in the shorter sections.
this is my first set iv built, that being said an inch and a half seems a little close, i think mine ended up being around 3 in.
My Word, what fine craftsmanship for a young man. I wanna be like you when I grow up! Oldrodder43, Perley
Sturdy looking motor mounts. Have the powder shop shoot em in an aluminum looking powder . . . that'd make people think. Fwiw, I'm running a similar mount for the 462" Buick engine in my 32 roadster. You'll probably find the rubber biscuit gets squashed down after a while. Make some new biscuits out of UHMW plastic - looks like Teflon, but it's not and about 1/3 the price of Teflon. The UHMW seems hard, but it damps vibrational harmonics quite well. I comes in different thickness. I use it for motor mounts and body mounts in the 31 on 32 rails project. Th car proper is looking good, nice stance and it carries the "right" look. Well done....
Fwiw, the headers four primary tubes on my 32 roadsters right side are 1/8" - 3/16" from the frame. The urethane paint went flat in that area, but hasn't burned to date. What did burn was the right side hood panel - acrylic lacquer on that. Funny part there is the outer curve of one primary tube is about 1/8" from the panel, but the burned area is 8"-10" back of that. I suspect the fan is pushing hot air and it collects right there. The area just over the primary tube is starting to burn. All of which is to say, an inch and a half may make it. The header on the right side ended up close to the frame because the engine is set 1" to the right for additional steering linkage clearance which I didn't need. Plenty of room for headers over there. The 31 on on 32 rails - also 462" Buick powered - is set on center and no steering linkage problems. Looks to be plenty of room for inside the frame headers as well.
First time I saw this build, that is looking great! Other's said but the W motor is cool as hell. Great job!
Wow! To be honest I never really paid any attention to this thread, because I'm a kustom guy, until I saw you were from NJ. I like hot rods too, just not as interested I guess. But damn! This thing is cool. Keep it up, you've got my interest.
Only 16?! I've got underwear older than that! Very impressive build at any age. I think you've found your career...
Nice. Come on man, does "She Who Must Be Obeyed" know that you stole two pillow cases to cover your hairpins?
i dont think i am gonna roll the inside, seems like alot of work for a little reward, but i would make a nicer job
Looks good dude, im glad to see your makin progress. I look foward to seeing updates on your build. also cool to see another young jersey dude who knows where its at haha.
You have a lot of talent son. And cool parents, too. I hope you re-pay them by being carefull in that monster!
