Nice to find out where the cars end up- sounds like great plans you've made for the old gal! Good luck with it , drive safe and have a blast!
Just found this pic on FB!!! Looks awfully familiar..... Jason, look at the inside of the driver lower cowl... There's a patch that covers a drag link hole.....AND the tubing structure around the top of the body looks the same????
Pete, The cutout looks almost identical and so does the tubing. Any idea what the story behind that pic is?
Not that this is a super, exciting update or anything but I have to keep posting, for my own motivation. I have to keep the pace up to have her ready in less than two months!! Today, I got two deliveries, one was my box of ignition and brake parts, wheel cylinders and fuel pump rebuild kit from Early Ford. Then the "new", old, front shoes for her showed up!! They are vintage, Allstate 6.00-16's! The look awesome and will be perfect for the front! I posted a want ad here on the board and Webb1932 came through for me! (Thanks Billy!) I'm still on the prowl for a pair of 7.00-16's for the rear. More to come soon as I keep chipping away in the evenings.....
Those OG tires are much better than the new tires you can buy today, always out of round and wobbly....
Just found this - LOVE IT! The Dust Bowl Spl. has provided hours of entertainment and inspiration for me; gonna be watching this one closely.
Bondo...Glad you like it! I'm really excited about this T! Yeah...The Dust Bowl has provided me with hours of entertainment too....and FRUSTRATION! We have a love/hate relationship at the moment!!! Another post with not a lot of excitement to look at but again...it keeps me going! Finished up the tranny mount and clamshell. Rebuilt the fuel pump, put on a fresh 97, mounted the radiator and fabbed some support rods for it. Getting all of the ignition stuff in order now. Hope to fire it later this week.... The mount is not sexy....but stout and functional.....just like my last, two girlfriends! Getting closer......
One small step for man....one giant leap for the Torr-Nado T!!!! I left work early yesterday to finish wiring up the ignition. I've been dying to hear this thing run! She cracked right off!! This is very motivational for me and a big step in the right direction. I have a month to go before I try to conquer the mountain with this baby! Lots more to go but this was a big hurdle!!
Great job! Love that your not overdoing it. Just carrying on with it's heritage. Keep posting even the little things are interesting. Gary
So fucking killer!!!! I'm so glad that you bought the car, your doing a straight up awesome job on it,,, can't wait to see video of it climbing the hill.
Put in some more time this weekend and got the wiring finished up and plumbed the fuel system and radiator. Cobbled together a quick, throttle pedal, gave everything a once over and took her for the first, blast down the lane! She ran great! I was stoked as shit but now realize how much more I need to do in the next month!! This was a big day though! The video isn't much different than the last but shows it outside of the shop and she got there under her own power!! Now onto the rear brakes, seat and belts, fan, wheels and tires etc. etc.....
Yea bugsy! Car looks awesome, and is gonna go like STINK!! Can't wait to see you fly up the hill climb. By the way, single carb, flex radiator hose...I LOVE it! It looks so familiar. Great job, keep at it. Cheers, johnny
Never forget how much fun me and Pete had drivin that thing in the woods at his house the day we got it goin. I wonder if he still has the videos. Such a fun little car. Really awesome to see you getting it back together. Your doing a great job.
Thanks for all of the encouragement and kind words, fellas...mucho appreciated! I'm starting to sweat it a bit though as we head for the mountains 4 weeks from today. Would be plenty of time if I could work on it everyday but that's just not the case for me this time of year. I'm tackling the rear brakes and wide 5's now. Once that's done, hopefully the rest of the to-do list goes smooth and I don't have any, unforeseen surprises, mechanically. I have to stay focused on the items that are essential and not sweat the ones that aren't...not my strong suit! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Mark...thanks for the wheels! You can have them back, when you help Jay move back out to Kansas! Pete, cool pic of the T-Bag!! I agree with you too in that T's can be a lot of fun to put together. I'm only 5'11" and they are almost too small for me too. If I was 5' 5", 120 pounds and it was 1930 again....I'd be all over them!
