I'm thinking I will be cleaning up the flat black, and shooting the roof a heavy metal flake blue. The body is in pretty amazing shape. Can't wait to start driving her daily!

Well, I guess I am going to just turn this thread into a re-build thread. I have a few parts on order and while I wait for them to come in I took the hood off and started stripping it down for some fresh primer and paint. The guy I got it from had actually painted over the original black paint, so needless to say it was quite run sanding it down. Rustolium flat black paint over duplicolor primer over original paint. Anyway her is 2 pics from the process. Of course the hood is off of the car and it snowed last night her in CT, at least the carb and major components are covered. I'm also including pics of the rear bumper courtesty of hamber BBobb down in Texas.

Yeah the hood release makes it very easy to do work under the hood!

Ok so I wanted to post a few more pics of what I have been doing so far.
Got the hood off stripped the paint and now have the top in primer. Stripped the seat out, getting ready to sand down the floors and patch the very minimal rot that is here. Also just a few shots of the engine and the ****** from the inside of the car with the tunnel removed. Next step is to get the car down to the garage and start stripping the paint from the rest of the car.

So not much to report other than getting the hood primered in primrose yellow primer sealer. Looks strange now, but the primer is hard as a rock when dried and sanded. Here's a few pics of my yellow hood

So this weekend I was able to spend some time with the Buick. First thing I did was swap out the original radiator that was in it with another that came with the car, filled it with coolant and lo and behold, no leaks! Hooked the original gas tank back up, cranked that striaght 8 over primed the pump and BAM she runs, strong off the tank. I let it run for about 15 minutes warming it up, shut it down for 10 minutes and then started her back up with no hesitation. This time I put a milk crate in and took it for a small ride down my street and thru the old folks home that is at the end of the road. Brakes work good, clutch works good. Damn, I am getting more and more excited working on this car as the days go on!

Ok so a did a little work down at the garage last night! I received a new "mustache" from Hamb member Soreback last week for a great price! It had some typical pot marks and scabs, but overall in good shape. I sanded it all down getting rid of all the scarring primed it twice sanded and then spot puttied all of the low spots. primed 2 more times and shot it with a chrome paint. Now as I have previously stated I am not a guy who likes "shiny" paint, everything I own is flat. The Buick is going to be flat black with a candy flake blue roof, that is about as flashy as I have ever gone. Anyway the mustache came out great, I included a few pics. Last week I also got in my new rear bumper ***embly from hamb member BBobb, the bumber will be getting the same treatment as the mustache along with the front bumber and "teeth". If all goes well I should have the car done for May 2011 so I can drive my sister to her wedding! Oh yeah I also included a pic of the motor while it is running!

Ok, so no new progress on the car, but, I did buy and put up a 12X20X8 portable garge so I can do some work from home at night after work! I have plenty of room in there for the car and a small workbench. A little salamander heater and I should be good to go thru this nice cold New England Winter. My little sister is getting married in May so I would like to have the Buick on the road and painted for that occasion so I can drive her soon to be husband to the event. Of course I will have lots of help from my friends, especially Sean, "Spgill2000" here on the HAMB.

Well Its been awhile! A couple of days after I put the portable garage up we had some crazy weather here in CT. Needless to say 80 mile an hour gusts of wind ripped my anchors out and turned my tent into one hell of a large kite, and of course it was snowing like a bastid and it was 10PM. So with that said, my wife and I ran outside and decided to take the canvas off. Once the first clip was pulled the damn thing picked itself up off the "bones" and came to rest behind the shed. We folded it up and put it in the ba*****t hatchway. Now here in CT we have had quite a few snow storms over the past month, one of which dumped 2.5 feet. Well here is what the "bones" and the Buick now look like. My father-in-law tells me with 2 weeks the weather pattern should change for the better and we can get the carport back up and anchored to the ground with foot long rebar and cement lags! The plan is still to have her on the road at the beginning of May......

Well, small bit of good news. A State Cop buddy of mine did the Vin Check for me so I can register the car this week. This weekend I am going to dig out the snow and get the canvas back up around the car. I am also going to start making the templates for my new door panels. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to try my hand at re-upholstering the Buick myself. My mother-in-law has a nice sewing machine that she will never use that I can borrow! I gotta get rollin, just need to get motivated this weekend. Wish me luck!

I made 1 door panel today, feels good to do something related to the Buick no matter how mediocre it may be!

    Get after it!

I had a nice 52 Buick Woodie project a couple of years ago, loved the car, but couldn't shake loose the change to fix it up.

Those old Buick's are neat, cool grilles and very cool dahboards.

    Good luck.

I think you made a sweet trade, not many of those at the local cruise. Hopefully that'll be the last big snow of the ear and you can get back after it.

The last big snow happened about a month ago now. The biggest problem is the ice storm that happened after the snow and iced up EVERYTHING! This week it is supposed to be up in the 50's a few days, so hopefully this garbage will start to melt away. Even better part is I am on vacation strarting Friday of this week! Woo Hoo. Wife and I will hit up New Hampshire for a couple days, and then its back in action! Thanks for all the good compliments guys, its getting me motivated again!

  30. If you're working on this one, why not put the Firechicken in the tent in the driveway?
