I'm about 30 minutes east of I-35 just off OK 177 if you're passing this way today... LMK and I'll put on some burgers or something. Brad
If the photos posted to this point are indicative of your skills as a photographer I want to see more, many more. That car is so, well...RIGHT
. Out with the rising sun. Heading for 66 in MO. Sometimes the road is more important then the car. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
In my book, NOTHING beats a long run without scheduled stops. A quick fuel, food, restroom break and then back on the road. Its a total rush that only a small % of the population will ever experience/relate to. Sheer, raw Hot Rodding at its best! I'm having coffee getting ready to leave for work and I know I'm not alone here when I say I'd love to trade places with you now!
Love these visceral, raw hot rod traveling threads - back to basics. Gary Vahling is indeed a super nice guy- met him twenty years ago when he had just finished building a 1933 woodie for Don Rooten and I had just hauled a 1933 woodie project home. Meeting fellow hot rodders on the trip is really cool as well....
finally choking down some grub. Today has been awesome. Update ASAP. Hopefully with more pics. Got some killer ones today. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Something about this thread is just RIGHT and BITCHIN'. Thanks for sharing the story. I wish I were there too!
A roadtrip thread will pull me in everytime. Sat down, pulled up the HAMB and this was the first thread I looked at. Keep up the cool travels. Can't wait till you get some place where you can finally post all your pictures.
Well I banged out 480 more miles today. South of Memphis and the super 8 has a terrible Internet signal. So once again no pictures. Feel like I am failing here. Think I will have to do a write up on it when I get home. It's been amazing. South of memphis, 500 more miles to go. A quick thing. Paris springs MO. Go there and find old 66 and meet Gary. He built a sinclair station on the same spot one stood in the prime of 66. Amazing. Pics and details to follow. Sorry all. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Will you be coming down US 63 from Springfield via West Plains to Memphis? If yes, I am in Jonesboro, 70 miles from Memphis and about a mile from the route. I'm good for a decent meal, a bunk, and access to just about any tool you might need.
Man!!!! I went right through there last night. I am already in ole miss! About to turn and burn. I am sure my luck with the rain is about to run out. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Anyone else having issues with uploading pics from the mobile app? It's raining, windy and what most will consider shitty. Yet I am all smiles! Hot rodding ain't always pretty, but it always looks good! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
^^ Found him and the station a few years back when I was trippin' on my Harley. That station and the old pratt truss style bridge on 66 in that area are one of my favorite spots on Missouri's 66.... This thread and roadster rules! You, sir, are living my dream vacation..
