    I rolled my car today.

Well, at least the underside. Used a small roller to put a coat of POR 15 on the bottom of the '54 Chevy. Damn, there's a lot of nooks and crannies down there. Spent 2 and a half days with a wire wheel and hand brush knocking off the surface rust. Another half day metal prepping. Then paint today.

Word to the wise. Don't let Por 15 dry on your skin. 80 grit will take it right off.

  2. I started to rebuild my wheel cylinders for the rear end of my A-coupe.

Sandblasted, painted and rebuilt my 40 juice brakes...they look new now...

Split my 37 wishbones, got them ready to put the bung ends on.

Converted my shoebox back to 6v...still working on it.

Went to Lancaster to pick up a bug w/ my buddy this morning.

Pulled apart my "new" T-5 to get it ready for the S-10 tail shaft.

Being that I'm currently in the middle of chopping my 54' Plymouth Belvedere, I had this weekend all mapped out as to what I wanted to get done. I had a tattoo appointment for friday morning and had errands to run on friday, then saturday and sunday were set aside to start nearing the end of the chop. Well on friday morning I was mopping in the house and went to pick up a piece of plastic off of the floor. As I made an attempt to get up, I rolled my ankle and heard a loud snap in my left foot. I tried to walk it off all day long and soaked my foot and coated it with bengay. I decided to go into work ( Torrance Memorial Hospital ) and have the E.R. staff check it out. Well, after a couple x-ray's later, it was official...I broke two bones in my left foot. So I've just sat around the house all weekend with my foot elevated waiting for monday to roll around so I can call the orthopedist. I did however manage to crutch it to the garage to visualize the end product.

Boxed a pair of 1932 Ford frame rails. Used 1/8 plywood and a lot of plastic shrink wrap, finished shipping weight is 68 pounds.

I pushed and graded sand/gravel for the foundation pad on the new shop. With the only vintage machine I own at the moment I might add, a 1961 john deere 1010 dozer.

  8. Probably just adjusting. Make sure those shoes are only a c-hair away from the drums. I once thought I had a bad master cylinder.. turned out I forgot to expand the tensioner on the rear brake shoes. Fixed everything.

I got the lawn mowed, then we went to pick up my "new" 1953 F-100... I estimated it would take about two hours... about six hours later, we were driving home... I unloaded it yesterday, and started filling out title generation paperwork, tonite I'm going to return the trailer, and try to get the wheels moving (three are frozen, hopefully just the brake drums!).

All in all, a successful weekend, just far too quick!

Pops (dirty2) came over with little sis and helped run brake lines, brace up cab, mounted front brakes, packed bearings, new races, installed new wheel cylinders, painted backing plates, installed intake, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, clutch linkage, and somehow had alittle time to make it to a swap meet. Looks like we will make the Hamb Drags but it will be assholes and elbows the whole way. Thanks for the help Pops

Spent the weekend in futile pursuit of electrical nirvana. Got shocked once, I think I might have burnt out my wiper motor, and never got the turn-signals sort out.

I did get the instrument cluster in! :D Sans gauges.

    Hatch,
That's GREAT! I love the old British bikes, the vertical twins. I like yours because its nice, simple and straight forward. Nothing you don't need. Beautiful.

What did I get done automotive wise. Nothing. We had to go to a funeral for my wife's uncle on Saturday. Really nice man. He married a widow with four kids and then had three of his own with her. They all grew up to be great people. An instructor pilot in WWII and Korea. A nice person and dead straight honest. Old school farmer all the way. We'll miss him.

Sunday, I cleaned all the leaves and dirt the thunderstorm blew into the pool from Thursday night. Then went swimming. Another thunderstorm last night.

  15. This past wkend, Sat had a late B day party, Degrimed my new/old intake for my 55. Grind that dam thing for about three hours then got busy on nocking all the casting off the seems and going to have the ports cleaned at a buddys shop.

The guy that got drunk and went drag racing on Woodward needs to spend a night or fifty in jail. Sounds like an 18 year old kid in a honda. I live close to Woodward and hope I never see you or your death trap out there!

I got the oil changed in my daily driver and hit the Gratiot cruise in the old Ford. Great weather and good times all weekend. No burn outs, stuck throttle or drunk drag racing!

Well then... try a 24 year old kid in a chevy :D and it was hardley a "drag race" just one stop light and a little more throttle them normal. lighten up,im not the first or the last to get into it on woodward. Damn if u saw what hammeringhank did at last years bdc in his coupe you would have been sending him to get a switch off the tree.
O and the beer drinking took place afterwards in a safe enviroment Where no small animals or tires were hurt.. And i dont do burn-outs I like my back tires with tread on them. And chances are you have allready seen me and my "death trap" around town.

Now can i go back over timmys and build legos dad? Ill be home when the street lights come on. :D :p

    Back to your weekend updates......

Saturday did the "Dad's Taxi" thing with my 2 sons, then took a mate for a drive about 80 miles from here to look at a shed packed with A model Ford parts. Saw how this guy built a floor frame to replace the one missing from his sports coupe and got some dimensions to allow me to fab one for my 28 tudor to enable me to make it into one piece again. Picked up a rear axle for another of the projects. Sunday I finished up the mounting post to hold my HF bead roller in while I use it. Painted all the bits and pieces, stood back and admired the "handiwork", packed all the tools and steel I have been tripping over while doing this, and swept out the shed. One more to do marked off the list, but added about another 5 while achieving this one.
