I grew up in North Dakota, moved to Denver in '72. I have driven thru your area many times and even stopped on the way. You have given away our secrets of so much great iron that is still out there. Now those east coasters will head out west in droves to pick over whats left. But thanks for the great pictures.

Maybe so but they have to actually find someone that will let it go.

  5. I just came across this thread this evening. A group I was touring with in 2013 (about 20 cars) stopped by the Hot Rod Ins***ute and were given a tour. they do some pretty nice work in there and help people develop the skills needed to build hot rods and customs. We were given a warm welcome there and saw vehicles in all stages of progress. 09-05-13-09.JPG
On that same tour we also ran into Neil Young waiting for a supply of bio-fuel for his hybrid '59 Hot Rod Lincoln. He was there waiting at a shop we were there to tour. All in all it was a pretty interesting tour. Neil Young & linkvolt.JPG

Excellent shape inside and out...other than the lumber emergency brake and the tow strap on the front bumper.

Some people notice it all but I didn't say it runs good. Owner said he'd throw the tow strap and "parking brake" in on the deal.

Just going back through the thread and had to reply to this. I did find a great yard up in Bonnyville, AB while there in 2001 on "official gov't" business when I was active duty. Always wondered if it's still there. It was full of very desirable vintage tin. Matter of fact I arranged the purchase of a '27 T bucket roadster mounted on a sort of rolling/scooting '32 frame. It was an old hotrod from years past. Had a different dash, faded graphics of spider webs and mooneyes. I paid $200 Canadian for it. Almost bought the remains of a Graham Paige but talked myself out of it.

Ultimate people hauler. What is it? I was thinking Buick or Pontiac. Didn't get close enough to take a good look.

The little '40 Chrysler is sweet! Still original running gear w/overdrive. Met the owner who just moved into town. IMHO this was "the car" at a show I attended last Saturday. I couldn't stop looking at it.

Someone in Piedmont surely knows the driver of the roadster...;)

When I was a little kid in the '60s, there was a farm just outside Piedmont on the Sturgis side that had an old roadster with the rumble seat lifted up just sitting in the field with other old farm equipment. Saw it dozens of times going from Spearfish to Rapid City. Often wondered if anyone ever saved that car.

Holy smoke! What's my pickup doing in SD?(the International) Same colors and everything. Even appears to be in similar condition... except that one doesn't have the funk of sitting for 40 years all over it LOL.

Hey John, So far Hudson and I are coming. I am torn on which car to bring but already have registration paid with the Hudson as the car so we'll probably bring it again. It's way more comfortable to sleep in on the first night than the Model A.:)
I've been stripping the paint on the Hudson and was hoping to have it all bare steel by the Hill Climb but at the current pace I'll be lucky if I have one side stripped. Looking forward to it. Haven't really done any hot-rodding all summer so the Hill Climb is going to be extremely the****utic for me.
