WOW just let Bass build the car!!!! I've seen some of these rat rods with booger, popcorn fart welds running down the road and have yet seen one break the front axel! I am no engineer! but I have been around a long time and seen alot of hot rods, and it looks to me that this is first class work!! Keep up the good work Bass!

Man, you know you have a captive audience just absolutely drooling all over ourselves wanting more pictures.... I'm so sick of being stuck inside I'm about ready to go work in the snow anyway. To say nice work, would totally be an understatement and an insult....more pics! I'll go get a mop.

    Holy Shit!
Bass THANK YOU for this thread and PLEASE keep them coming. I've drooled over all the threads you've done in the past. I sure hope all these arm chair engineers don't discourage you OR anybody else from posting build threads. These are what the HAMB is about, not all the o/t fucking around posts about my dog, or job, or what color to paint my flat black 65 chevy.
Jesus Christ, everybody that's got a "better" opinion of this chassis SHOW US YOURS YOU DESIGNED!!!!!!!! Until then god damn back off, it's his build. Comments are great and people can learn a lot from him, but shit full tests on chassis, fuck off, this isn't a mass produced fucking car is a god damn HOT ROD! Boeing engineers, automotive engineers WTF apparently everyone is laid off and just reading this thread.

And before you get up in MY shorts, if you want to see a chassis/suspension I designed, go to Iraq, they are killing insurgents and keeping soliders alive.....

Dave, are you familiar with the Dick Kraft roadster? You know, the red Model A Roadster with the Indy inspired track nose?

Take a look in the trunk and tell me what you see. Don't see what I'm talking about? I'm sure you can figure it out.

I actually already covered this in greater detail than I ever should have had to, but I'll put it up here again for you:

To translate that for you, they don't have to be there. They are there because I wanted to drill holes in the rear crossmember, and I felt that having a plate to double the crossmember thickness where the holes were drilled would be a good idea. Other than that, the "old world door hinges" are there because I wanted them to be. And to be honest, I had a feeling that the bare chassis would be seen by a lot of people and I thought it would make for an interesting detail.

If you still don't understand, my phone number is on my website linked below. Feel free to call me and I'll expound even further.

You seem to have spent a lot of time looking at the photos and trying to think of questions to ask, and I appreciate it! Thanks buddy!

    Dear Mr. Bass,

Please remove the unsafe hairpins immediately and replace them with Pete&Jakes 4-bars...we must keep the engineers happy.

I, like most everyone else here LOVE this car. I've sent the link to several people who are lurking this post waiting for more.

the question I have is: why put the slot in the frame for the clutch pedal instead of bending the pedal around the frame? It sure looks cool, but I'd have went the other route thinking it was easier. Having not build an A myself, it's probably a simple answer everyone else knows...

ditto. AS IN HANDLING THE DEBATE, AND MORE PICTURES. NOT THE READING FOR A LIVING THING. I CAN BARELY READ AT ALL, BUT I SURE CAN LOOKS AT ME SUM HOT RODDIN PITCHURES. IF THE AXLE, OR ANY OTHER COMPONENT OF THAT FRONT SUSPENSION BREAKS, I WILL BUY THAT GUY A CASE OF WHATEVER HE DRINKS. DID YOU GUYS SEE HOW I USED COMPONENT THERE, DIG THAT!!!!

If you did that you'd have to make a very nasty looking floorboard to clear the arm. This way he can just make the two holes where the pedals come through, like it came from the factory.

    Mr. Bass,

My boys and I spent hours reading this build. I want to say "Thanks" for posting it up here. You've gone to greater lengths than some of these ass hats deserve and your build is a piece of art. Functional art, I might add.

I learned a few things working with Enjenjo last month. Do it right and do it to please yourself. Build it planning for someone to come along and say "who the hell did this?!?" in a positive tone by asking yourself "what the hell am I doing here?!?" at every step.

You obviously cover every idea ten or more times to come up with something you will be proud of. Thanks for sharing.

Everything from the welds to the finished product is awesome.

I often wonder why some people have to Question/debate someone's way of fabrication . it is one off it's a hot rod!

This is a hot rod, and it will ride like one. If either I or the customer had a problem with that, we would be building a mid-70s Cadillac, or similar, and not screwing around with a (soon to be) chopped Model A Coupe.

I personally like the "hot rod chop" ride that comes from Early Ford based hot rod suspension....it lets you know that you're not driving a Toyota Camry.

I'll let you know when something breaks. You should go to the phone and wait for my call. :)

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MAN! Don't let all the arm chair engineers get to you. Maybe if they spent more time in the shop than on here pickin apart other peoples work they would have a build thread to post so someone like them could pick it apart for them and question why they did it "THEIR" way. PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WORK BEING SHOWN ON THIS THREAD PLEASE DON'T READ IT AND DON'T POST REPLIES. HE IS NOT TAKING HIS TIME TO POST AND UPDATE THIS THREAD TO BE CRITICIZED ABOUT HIS WORK. Again great work man your livin my dream. (Getting payed to build it my way.) Looking forward to the next update.

Ehhhhh... Cut it out, or Bass is going to have to grow a longer beard to cover up that head that keeps growing bigger from all these compliments!! :D He doesn't need the liability of it getting caught in something. Think of the safety! Just lookin' out for you man! :D

the suspension travel thing is just stupid too discuss if you look at most low cars they have barely inches of travel like 3 tops
a stock model A cooking down a dirt road hauling a family and potatoes in the trunk in 1940 is alot different than a hot rod
ive daily driven cars that barely clear speed bumps any inteligent driver can deal with a low car and short travel is not a problem i doubt anyone in there right mind is gonna take this chassis over railroad tracks at 70 mph or attend a rallycross event..........

aside from retarded feedback by ignorant people with substandard fabdication skills
THIS IS BY FAR SOME OF THE MOST BEAUTFIFUL WORK IVE SEEN

I'll also add to this that these are not exactly low-profile "Z-rated" tires we're talking about. Bias ply tires and or anything with a large side wall is going to offer a lot more give and take some of the burdon off of the suspension itself.

End note. Continue with the presentation of amazing fabrication skills and chassis building for the rest of a car that will be equally nice but has not yet been presented and should be because I can hardly contain myself waiting to see MORE!!

  28. do we get to see this work of ART at the round up? At least to drool on? I am Loco over this thing. I like everyone else can not wait to see more of this build. Are you gonna have another spot in MFS?????? I watch that one about once a month sometimes more :) I still love that dash in model A damn it is just wickeddd,,,,,, Keep it up bro

oh man...what an artist! this is the most interesting thoughtful and skilled build i have ever seen.
the only thing that amazes me more is that some people actually feel the need to criticise it. fuck knows what they'd make of my work:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    well done Mr Bass.

The reasoning here... is why Mr. Bass has so much of my respect. Good answer...

I cleaned this post up a tad and got rid of Dave. Typically, I would have cleaned the thread up a lot more, but I really like the example that Bass set... So, some of it stays in his honor. :)
