I'm still having a great time using the coupe, even though the weather is starting to get colder and I have been venturing further as my confidence in the car grows. The only failiures so far have been:
Charge wire fell off the back of the alternator
    Coil failed
Chassis contacting rear axle when hitting big holes in the road (fixed with an extra couple of short leaves in the spring pack)

We were back at Pendine Sands last weekend for the VHRA hotrod races.
I got down there on Thursday evening and had a sociable day on Friday and didnt do much otehr than get the car down to scrutineering. All went well with that and I got my race sticker.
Saturday was a total washout unfortunately as the weatherman was correct with his predictions and it persisted down all day while we stood on the beach with our cars waiting in vain for a chance to race. Every time the track looked like it was starting to improve, we had a heavy downpour and our hopes were dashed.
At about 3pm we gave up and headed for the pub.

However, Sunday dawned bright and dry. We were up early and on the beach for just after 8am. We had a great day and all managed a couple of runs. There were some new cars out this year and what a great standard they were!
Unfortunately the 'Wee Terry Coupe' was a bit off the pace and instead of improving on last year's speed (hoping for 80mph), I was down by 4.92mph to 71.83mph. This year I had decided to swap the diff ratio from 3.78 to 3.62 in the hope that I could get a few more mph out of top gear on the old 3-speed. The probelm was that in 3rd, the motor didn't quite have enough grunt to build the revs in time for the finish line. I started in 1st gear and think that had I been able to do a 3rd run I would try starting in 2nd to eliminate a shift; hopefully allowing me time to build the rpm back up. Some side and rear windows might help reduce the 'parachute' effect as well.

I had my cheerleaders with me....

Anyway, despite my disappointing speed, it was hotrod heaven as always. When we did the mass run back from the top of the track, I was grinning like the idiot that I am. Thanks once again to everyone involved in organising the event - long may it continue!
