I hung gutters on the house, and stripped/painted the entry doors. Went to a car show Sat. evening, basically a honey-do weekend.
Oh, and I got the dash back in my '71 Chevy pickup.

  2. Got the 292 back into the Biscayne in under 2 hours flat, did a bunch of yard work, played with my older daughter, grilled some bitchin' brats and burgers.

About 3 months ago I brought home a huge 6 foot circular piece of scrap steel that is 1 inch thick. I thought it would make a great fab table. This weekend I welded on the legs, braces, and wheels. The tricky part was turning the table over. I used an I-beam hoist and my engine hoist. I had visions of the table coming loose and dancing around my shop killing me or rolling over all my cars. I welded on two short 2x3 square tubes on the top and bottom for something to hook to...apparently my welding is good.
When i finally got the table over and down on the ground I realized I must have been fairly nervous doing it.... my mouth was dry as dirt! :D

Got two layers of Peel and Seal down on my floorboards and inside the doors.

That stuff is awesome. Really toned down the resonation inside the cab of my F100.

Since that stuff is now down I was also able to install my new Moon gas pedal.

...so this is what you can do with your time when you don't work weekends... I've been wondering. :)

I'm thinking that you might be joking about the brake tool but if you're not, this is what I use: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00945494000P

Sorted out an e-brake in the '47. I used an under the dash pull out type brake handle from a 60-ish ford pickup and lokar cables on the 9". I tried connecting them to each other and couldnt pull the handbrake on, so I had to makeup a pivoting arm to get some leverage. I made an L bracket that I bolted to the bottom of the chassis and then mounted a foot brake pivot and arm (cut off the pedal) from a 70's chev to it (so it sits sideways under the floor, the pivot is beside the chassis. The lokar cable connects close to the pivot and the hand brake cable is hooked up to the very end). Seems to work ok on jack stands.

Cant test drive it as I still have some carb issues to sort out

I insulated, re-carpeted my interior and got a gas gauge that works.

Ran errands, stuccoed a door frame on the house, reinstalled the driver's side and removed all of the passenger's side front suspension on the Merc. Also ordered all of my disc brake conversion parts.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know these existed.

  14. This was a long weekend for us northerners, and the final insult to me was that I had to replace the brushes on the motor of my wife's vacuum cleaner. I learned long ago ( married 40 years ), that if I want to eat, wear clean clothes, and sleep with both eyes closed, that I have to take care of those jobs immediately.

Cool Kirk! I tried my hand at some body work on the A. Fenders, aprons...hammer and dolly, welding, grinding, sanding...and a little filler. My hands are talking to me today and I have a whole new respect for body guys. I'm glad I don't do it for a living or I'd starve to death. It's time to split work so I'm going to the house for more torture, I mean work.:D;)
