the What did you get done this weekend? thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Paul, Sep 16, 2007.

  1. Went to a car show in Huntsville Ontario on saturday to look around and damn near froze! Sunday I had my 57 at the shop and put in my ball joint extensions and installed my new 15 x 4.5 Cragars. sun was shining and i couldn,t get motivated to stay there working so I went home and built my 11 year old some skateboard ramps and a grind box.

Hit the local swap meet on Sunday, did pretty good. Saturday, I picked up the donor car for my Model A. A 1961 Invicta with a 4v 401. I bought it thinking the motor was stuck. But I threw a breaker bar on it and it spins nice and free. Next step is to get her running. Price? $100.

I got the block cleaned and some Por-15 on it. A few small items taken care of but the big hurdle for me was getting the bell housing dialed in. It turned out not to be as big a deal as I had feared.

I have the floorboards and toekicks welded in my 54F100 project.
I was filling holes in the firewall when the wirefeed bit the dust.

I will get a new cable liner this week and get back at it.

HAMB drags 2008 here I come.

Are you going to have any other support on your blower plate? Just using the four carb studs seems a little scary to me.

Spent some more quality time with my soldering gun. Dammit. This wiring **** is really starting to get old. Whoever owned this car before me did some strange things. It's taken me months to attempt to straighten things out, as I knew NOTHING about wiring before I jumped into this. The whole college student with no funds thing is keeping me from taking the easy way out and sending it to a shop, but I guess doing it yourself is part of it.......

Oh, well. At least I'm not wasting my time putting neon lights on a Civic!:D

  9. Well today is part of my weekend, so I went and picked up the flathead for my coupe. I got it from my uncle who has been nice enough to hold it for me until I wa ready. I sat the body back on the frame a couple days ago, so now I can make sure everything is fitting correctly (so far everything has been ok). After I'm sure on the body/motor then I'll pull the body back off and finalize a couple frame issues.
