Saturday we killed the day going to see some fellow rodder's collection and of course going to the swapmeet - amoung other things I got a 5 dollar DeVilbiss touch up gun - I was pretty happy about that.

Today - I put a E-brake cable on my '47 truck - shoulda doen that a LONG time ago since there's no "park" with the pushbutton trans:(

I then installed a fresh set of kingpins. I found a reamer - but it wasn't the "correct" type for doing kingpins so I made a temporary extension to keep everything in line. Worked pretty darn good for what it is.

Installing the disc brakes real soon!!! Should stop real good with those 11-3/4" rotors.

Went to the Zephyrhills swap meet on Friday. Got some more junk, tools, and a Model A block. Found an original aluminum goose-neck for a buck! Went to BugJam in Dade City today. Those guys are hard-core!!:p

    What a weekend....

I've been putting my shop equipment and parts stash back into my shop after my floor coating and remodeling project. I've had a lot of my stuff outside..protected from the elements in a 10X20 vinyl canopy with sidewalls.

The weather's been nice but I think this weekend of mild temps is Fall's last hurrah..

Anyway, Saturday nite I hit the rack about 10:00PM... I was planning on emptying that canopy and taking it down on Sunday. About 2:00 AM we had a rude awakening with 60 MPH winds and rain taking down the canopy for me. We also lost power at the same time.

I looked out my window and saw it across the street in my neighbors yard. I had it tied down to my machinery and parts that were stored inside of it...the force of the winds broke the nylon tie downs...I had two tire and wheels for anchors and they were still attached as the wind blew it down the street.

The wind took down a 60' pine tree in my side yard and dropped it across the street...thank God the canopy got caught on it and stopped.

My neighbor came out and helped me take apart the canopy and pull the destroyed tree out of the road.

I then had to jump on my forklift and stuff all of my shit into the shop...with no lights except a flashlite. Two Hemis, a Nailhead and some other stuff got a little wet but no damage. Thank God the wind didn't get strong enough to blow them away!

Finally got everything under control about 5:00AM.

    What a nite...

Friday night took apart the 'A' frame one more time. Now it has locations for the rear Z. Sandblast all the frame parts later this week. Dissassembled the orginal drivetrain for the wishbones; I was thankful for the weekly spraying of Moovit on all the nuts throughout the summer. Bought a beer fridge for the garage, then loaded it!
Saturday quading all day, then tested beer fridge coolness.
Sunday, brought home some tires for the garage 15" rims (shop wheels). Dragged the 'new' dropped '49 front axel into the shop for dissassembly. Covered the tub with a tarp...snow coming tonight.

Pumped about the rails getting blasted, I have the 2"x3" tubing for the kick. Would like to order a front mono spring this week.
    Rest on couch:)

Finished installing the clear oak flooring in the diningroom. This was free used stuff I removed on a remodeling job, and it has taken up a lot of room in the garage. Glad to finally get it installed! Rented a Varathane block sander for the first time, FAR BETTER than a drum sander and edger. Couldn't have done the feature strip sanding with anything else. Ran out of sharp sandpaper, so I'll finish it tomorrow. Wife gets home Wednesday, should be a good supprise. :D

Saturday I gussied up the hot rod for photo day. I have to submit 2 photo's with my entry for the Starbird show in Jan. In the evening I took the car over to the local hangout to chat with friends as long as the weather will allow.

Sunday I worked on the new carb all day trying to tune the engine so that it would run below 2000 RPM. After a few hours of frustration I pulled the new (to me) carb off and started blowing out the passages with carb cleaner. After blowing it out and pushing a piece of wire through some of the ports I found that one of the idle ports had not been drilled all the way through. Two trip down the street after drilling out the idle port and I have the car idling. :D

No Christmas card for Barry Grant this year!

Pretty darn good! I'm just trying to take it really easy so as not to cause more problems... heck, I even went bowling with some friends yesterday! (I used a kiddie ball though... :) )

How's your back, Traves? I see all of these threads about stuff you're getting done, and I'm thinking you've gotta be contorting something fierce! :) If I were to sit and weld my floorboards, my back would be sore for a couple days, I'm sure... you must be healed up alot better than I am, or are pushing MUCH harder than I am! :)

Oh, I had a (silly) brain-storm... well, more of a brain-thundershower really... You know how all of the bigtime builders name their rides? I think ours should be named something like "Backbreaker" or "Spinal Crisis"... :D

    NIce work-
I spent the weekend installing my brand new 14x 26 ft cross draft spray booth in my shop . Then having to patch the cement floor to ensure it was even.
At least it was warm out here so I could open the bay doors and get all the dust out of the shop...

Looks very nice! I'd love to see progress photos (and accompanying explainations) of the door building process...

I finally took my 1954 Ford out for its maiden voyage. Tranny was not wanting to shift after the first two passes around the block, then it worked. Now I have to button up the small things. Electrical items, water pump has a slight leak on this rebuilt engine, etc...

Is it where you wake up at 11pm pukin & shittin for the rest of the night and the next day? It has been going around like wild fire down here - the whole family had it last week except me and the wife

I actually did some more cleaning in the shop, pitched abunch of old auto paint that was dried or not going to use and organized the paint & oil/grease storage area.

Fabbed a throttle cable bracket for my Jeep Scrambler - changed from the BBS carb to a Motorcraft 2bbl - gotta get the jeep done to make room for the bucket.

Un-hooked my generator back feed wiring out of my electrical panel until next hurricane season.

Saturday scrapped, with a putty knife, all the leftover wallpaper paste on the bathroom walls. Someone kick me in the butt if I ever talk about wallpapering anything ever again. My thumbs still hurt.

Sunday morning, well morning for me;), I primed the bathroom walls and ceiling. Then Roadstar and I took Big Olds out for a Sunday drive. I hadn't had him out for a cruz since Oct 11th. Except for the very high winds like Kroozer experienced, it was a beautiful day. We went to a cider mill then to a buds house for dinner and bonfire. Cruz home was a bit brisk cuz the sun went down. :D

All in all a great weekend weatherwise. Probley the last for us here in Michigan till spring.
