Alright guys, heres what i am thinking. Everyone knows what a ford steelie looks like, every one knows what a Torq thrust 2 looks like, Most people know the Kelsy Hayes wires. I was hoping for a post to enlighten some of us on the other "period" wheels we dont typicaly see, like the real deal knock offs, no window Halibrands, Dirt track, Indy, saltflat type wheels. Also mabe what type of money the certain wheel can bring. Just thought it would be cool to see what else is out there. Hammer Hank
I like whatever these wheels are that I photo-hacked onto this coupe...they're from 1962 or earlier because they came off a car in a 62 issue of HOT ROD! (But I still plan to run steelies...whatever these things are ain't gonna be cheap!)
i have little windows ( kidney beans) on my track t....got my pair of no windows back from the old man that was talking to ya about the holes in your spreader at the pumpkin run......(still looking for fronts....and not willing to give more for a pair than i have in the car) not to hi jack your thread.......but......i am looking for a pair of newer later style halibrand spindle mount 5 spokes....(that are copys of the american racing version from the late 60's early 70's) or a pair of the later aluminum version of the no window smoothie......15x4.5 possibly 5.5 wide ....brandon
here,s a factory wheel that was on a 73 comet gt,i bought for parts.car was only 3 years old,sat in a body shop up until a couple years ago.was told the wheels are hard to find.
none of these wheels you guy posted (except fat hack and Brandon) have any thing to do with what Henry asked for. heres what he wants i'm buying these for 500 bones tomorrow real deal 5 pin knock offs with dirt slicks
500 is a deal for a pair of those........any other deals floating around the rock city .....? brandon
These are the new Crager Series 390 Street Pro They are a chrome version/style based on the halibrand kidney bean. Very nice chrome finish... moe _________________ http://spaces.msn.com/members/MOES-GARAGE/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c=
Thanks for the posts guys but i can find aolt of these new wheels in a street rodder magizine, lets stick to the older and harder to find stuff.. Hammer Hank
Yea, There kinda Dukes of Hazzard era, I was hoping more along the line of the 40's, 50's and early 60"s wheels. Like what might look right on a hotrod. Hammer Hank
The ones that are on my '57 are called Fenton Hawks, I am told they were first made in the mid 60's. They are similar to "Indy" wheels and "Hurst" wheels of the era. They are originally a two piece wheel, with a chromed steel rim and a cast aluminum center, however mine have trim rings installed on them because the chrome on the steel part is pretty much shot. I could take a closeup pic if you want. I hope this is a little more what you are looking for.
I have a set of Sixtys Super ET five spokes on my roadster... 15X6 one piece solid aluminum they made them in composite form too, steel / aluminum those kinda suck... These sat dismounted next to a tree in a stack for 25 years at my friends house waiting for me to find them and buy them... he got them off a mid sixtys GM- I love em- Tuck
Keystone Classics...I think I just threw up in my mouth! Here's my Goodyear Airwheels. I only paid $250 for my set. Very Rare and hard to find. Clark
How about Lyons wheel covers on 35 Ford wires? I paid $25 for the set. Sorta like hitting the lottery. Clark
Here's the Firestone or Clark wheels. Don't have any Not as cool as the Goodyear's but I want a set for the obvious reasons. Clark
I've got a couple of these. They look like the Goodyears but are shaped a little different. I was told they are General Jumbo's. Clark
