Thanks. I'm sure you will get a ride, after all when your hemi gets finished you will need to know how it will run. I stated that Chad was gonna paint the car flat black. Weeeel I guess he has decided on a gun metal grey satin finish for the body. He thought the all black theme was too much and the satin grey color would look better with the engine finishes.
Chad got the car back from the painters It's kinda an eggshell finish I think it looks good. The dash is gloss black along with all the interior garnish trim. We spent most of the day installing the engine and fitting the hood around the blower. It's gonna work but we are gonna have to open up the hood for the carbs, blower snout, and belt. I'll post up some additional pic's tomorrow. Good guys in Colorado is next week, It's gonna be close.
Well it's back together and went on a maiden voyage last night. Everything seemed to work great except for a flat rear tire on the way home from a small show south of town. Man I love the sound af a blower.
Tuesday evening and who rolls up but Chad in the yorkster. It seems he was out on the highway with goggles on. (windshield is being cut as we speak) putting some miles on it. It runs good. Here are some outside pic's and a few of the striping he had done. Have a look....John
Thanks this build was one of the most fun I've worked on in awhile. As for his vision I feel he took me back to school a few times during the build. New hot rod blood will do that.
Chad came over last night and told me he was gettin some miles on it so he can go get it dialed in on the dyno. Will be good to see him finally get on it. btw got everything together on the ****** and took it out. runs good cept not as low a first gear as the saginaw
Yep it's going on the dyno friday about 1:00. He tapped it lightly when he left here and those tires on there are no match for what it can do. It's good to here that your car is back together AGAIN that muncie will be harder to blow up. See ya friday.
Well we took the roadster out to joplin for the HAMB drags, and it performed well. Chad got to run it 4 times and the best time it ran was 11:56 at 118 mph. Both of us are happy with that. HMMM Maybe next year some stickier tires, and zoomie headers.
Chads got a new look in mind for the yorkster this year, more of a drag race look. He has changed the wheels and tires, the rear gears are gonna be 489s, and the pully is gonna be changed to get more drive out of the blower. We are hoping for high 10s or low 11s in the 1/4 mile at about 6000 rpm if his figuring is correct. He still has to put some sort of cage in it. As for the 1/8th mile it's just gonna be fun.
Wow...that's interesting. I mean that in a good way. The more I look at it, he more I like it. Well done!!
