I remember feeling like that when I was your age too. I always felt a little like an old guy in a kid's body. Keep the faith, brother (I'm 34 now). I have 3 boys and I want them to have exactly your attitude.
    P.S. A comet with a v-8 and a t-5 will be an awesome driver.
P.P.S. Sell the Honda -- unless you live 50 miles from school and work. I have a 10 mile commute and alternately daily drive an f-150 and a K-5 Jimmy, both 4X4's. As you'd expect, neither gets good mileage, but over short distances, I don't notice much. Long distances do suck, though.

what kills me is im sitting at a red light and some little punk pulls up in a ratty looking honda revving his motor trying to get me to run him. his stereo is blaring some you bang we stomp music laughing and carrying on with his g/f. the only thing i have to listen to is my cam hitting and going through the 3" exhaust. light turns green and the kids leaves like a bat out of hell. the best thing is there is a cop sitting at the intersection waiting to turn going the same way we are. i ease away from the light while the officer is in high speed pursuit catching him a several blocks down the road. as i go by them i kick it in neutral and snort it a few times while the officer waves at me smiling and giving me the thumbs up. i really wonder about our youth and their disregard for human life.

  6. Also being 21 and driving a civic (not so clean... I live in the country and she gets rallied pretty hard) with some stuff done to it I feel exactly like you do. I've never gotten the street racing thing.. heard lots of nasty stories from my dad and also growing up riding mountain bikes thought me I wasn't invincible a long time ago. So many people are bad drivers now it's scary. I think I'm the only one of my friends that is officially accident free. I drive kinda fast but I pay allot of attention to everything and have only gotten one minor speeding ticket. but then again I'm not like most people my age.. I hate cell phones and spend all my free dough on my model A (so don't tell me to sell the civic.. it takes a beating and keeps on ticking.. no really it's started ticking....) and.... well beer and my mountain bike.

  11. YES EVERYONE SUCKS, BUT

damn i sure know a lot of dumb fuck ricer spiked hair nu metal ed hardy clothing wearing fiberglass spoiler kids to TURN TO THE NEW "FAD" of rods. Its better than nothing, but I still laugh at them.

Also I would say there ARE more kids out there right not then in the past say 20 years interested in custom rods. It makes me a bit happy, i want it to continue. But they are still a bit gay.

Probably no one, and some day he will have kids of his own, that he won't raise either, that's the real epidemic.

  13. As has been said before, clowns like this have existed in every generation and some will learn, grow and change, some will still be conducting themselves in the same manner at 50 as they were at 17.....it is what it is.

I would'nt sweat it too much....but you are right about the "system," if you can call it that, has produced these kids as well as ignorant, dumb ass, selfish parenting.

I had a 17 yo bimbo give me the finger as I was trying to merge into traffic....she knew NOTHING about me, who I am, my violent tendencies, what mental institution I had just been released from or what jail I had done time in or what gang I was connected to......See what I mean?

It took every ounce of self control I had to NOT get out of the car and bitch slap her in her riced up Hyundai. I had visions of court proceedings where I would have to undertake road rage/anger management courses (fuckin idiots) b/c some bimbo was'nt taught any respect or courtesy by her dumb ass parents who were too busy chasin a fuckin career or zero care factor "teachers" at school.

IMO the Generation Xers are the last generation that were brought up with some old school repect and values. I know I was brought up as a kid with 40's values that were already "antiquated" by the early 70's. Its has now GONE the way of the Dodo, thanx to a system that breeds shit and champions non accountability and litigation.

Hey but every cloud has a silver lining right? The more of these dickheads that exist, the more hot rod stuff is available to us......RIGHT?

PS: Lose the Rice - A - Riso.....

Why drive a honda? My '97 Park Avenue gets 28 MPG and that 3800 smokes most Civics.

But my stock '70 malibu seems to get the rice grinders all revved up. They whine their engines to get me to race, and while they dump the clutch and blow their tires to smoke because they can't drive, I'm gone. . . til i get to the approximate speed limit. Then the grinder always comes from 5 car lengths back and has to buzz me going twice the speed limit. Proves that ego usually overcomes brains. Easy to do when there aren't many brains.

ps. Don't worry I have a '29 "A" roadster too, not just buicks and muscle cars.

the morons of my generation (im 23) have no concept of responsability anymore. they get handed cars and when they break them its time for mom and dad to buy a new one or pay to fix it. their cars are expendable. when it came to my cars i learned that if i broke it, i fix it. and unless im hauling bags of concrete accross town, im walkin. i have already lost a few friends because they were screwin around in a car they had no respect for. i admit ive got my share of donuts under my belt but i still made sure i knew the situation before i started goofin off. a lot of really good cruzin streets in my home town were ruined cause idiots didnt think beforehand.

Mid-14s is like the 150 club in bowling. You got some work to do.

Glad to see you have a gasser project you're working on. But your comet better be fast. If you can't break 14 flat with a straight axle, you're posing. Unlike ricers, a gasser's sole business is speed, not the impression of it.

Yes, there are lots of dumb ricers. My Mustang is a magnet for them

I'm 23 i do race on streets, sometimes, but usually on rural backroads, and i'm extremely careful were. Part of the problem is there are less good places to legally race every year, and decent illegal spots are also getting houses put up or getting shut down too.

The main deal is everyone is so protected these days they think they dont have to rely on common sence.

"Youth of Today" was a good punk band...

I'll say this, there are some ballsy little ricers out there... or would that be "stupid"? When I lived in Vegas it seemed like every stoplight had one of these fart can mobiles at it and they all had some kind of weird adrenaline rush. They wanted to race EVERYONE! Didn't matter if you pulled up in a mini van or a monster truck, they were racin' for pinks! Rediculous... and AMUSING at the same time. Didn't usually bother me in the coupe though. Maybe it was my awesome brown primer that discouraged them.

Oh... and my neighbor came home with a super 4-banger fart can contraption the other day. Things echo alot in my neighborhood. I wonder how he'll like my Hemi with open headers at 6:30 in the morning when I leave for work. Hmmm...

That movie is only funny to the people the movie is based after. It was one of those "hehe yaaawn" that was obvious humor type movies.

My little brother's friend just died, 16 with a new hemi truck, all alone on a back road at 4 am. These kids don't have a concept of mortality.

these kids these should have to go to a psycologist and get a personallity test before they get their licence, or have gps installed in their cars so the police and their parents can see what retarded things they do.
when i was in highschool there was this douchbag that was trying to impress his girlfriend. she was sitting on the block wall surrounding the parkinglot, and this fucking piece of shit decides to point his 68 camaro at her and do a burnout. well unfortunately his car didnt do a burnout, it chirped a couple times, and hooked up. his little pizzacutters he had on the front were insufficent for stopping his car fast enough, and he plowed right through both of her legs, and the block wall. it was a horrible sight to see, and the poor girl, well she didnt walk again for well over two years, and even then, she could barely walk. and she had to use a cane. i havent seen her since highschool, but i can be pretty suer she still isnt walking well. horrible. such a beautiful girl too, what she was doing with a piece of shit douchebag like that ,i could never figure out

Ha Ha HAAA!!!! That used to be me and it's going to be me...goofy, isn't it? I just turned 21, and I have more respect for cars now than I ever have. I like to drive 'em, and when you're fixing 'em because you were being a dumbass, you're not driving 'em!

Hopefully I can shed a light of hope on this. I'm 18 and an Eagle scout. I bought my Henry J when I was 14 with the money I had saved since 1st grade. I built it with my dad and he kept track of the reciepes. I owe my dad a couple grand still for parts, but I got it on the road last summer. And a couple grand isn't much considering it was a ground up build and runs 12s and had everything built period.

I don't street race, I never have, and I'm not going to start. I live in a little stick town so there are some good back roads that I can take it to do a short run. I know the car like the back of my hand and I know its limits.

I have never been in an accident, and I've never been pulled over.

My friends have old cars. My 18 year old friend has a 69 cougar that he built with his dad, and he won't get stupid with it if you tried bribing him. I'm helping my 17 year old friend build an old school 51 International truck hot rod with a 360 mopar and 727 trans. And another friend of mine cruises aroung in a 67 chevelle 4 speed big block car. He doesn't street race. He gets his kicks racing a 66 chevelle at the track that runs a 9.80.
