The car is pretty bad... Not so much for the end result as for the fact that it was a car with so much potential in the right hands...

As for the "Ian is an artistic genius... Look at all you fools still talking about the car..." defense...

Building a car to be a artistic statement and intentionally making it look effed-up for the sole purpose of making a "statement" or generating discussion... Is not art... And that is most definitely NOT what Picasso was doing... At least not in the beginning... Maybe, one could argue that in the later part of his career, he was all about the money...

It's the fact that the idea that making a statement is the sole purpose of art is largely accepted and 'approved,' that makes modern art largely irrelevant.

In the end, the only statement made is that you aren't a good enough artist to create something that makes an impression for it's greatness so you aim lower for shock. It's a cop-out...

It's "Rat Rodding"... And it's the lazy-mans hot rodding.

I don't know Ian, I have no idea if he really was involved with that car or if any of this was his intent... But the artistic justifications posted on this thread are logically deficient.

  4. WOW. A-L-O-T of work in that car..... Looks like something George Trosley would draw. I think it is cool, I kinda like it. Customs generally arent my thing, but they are growing on me. I definitely appreciate the ASSLOAD of work that wnet into the car if nothing else..... I think it is kinda neat. Cartoony. But a CAN say that it is not where I woulda went with it, I woulda stayed more Westergard with it........

I love how you treat everyone here as though we are a bunch of unwashed heathen who lack the high level of sensibilities that you are so capable of appreciating and give no credence to the possibility that there are a shitload of talented, well-educated and gifted artists, fabricators and free-thinkers present. And maybe the sensibilities that we are pushing are something newer - more recent - and more open-minded than what has been going on in the hobby for decades. Even if at it's base is a return to past esthetics.

I just want to know what the hell is so 'envelope pushing' about a bad chop?

We've all seen thousands of them. There is nothing new and cutting edge about it.

You just keep proving how much you don't know or understand. You're not supposed to, it's not about new, it's about traditional.

    100% correct...

Either you get traditional hot rods and customs, or you don't. And clearly you don't.

With all due or undue respect(so you don't get your panties in a bunch.)

    From my relaxing seat...I observe.

Different=Great Idea, Envelope pushing doesn't require improvement on a given idea, "K"ustom is a dish best served at a buffet??? Well here is some more gold from the frontier of the cutting edge!

Some envelopes deserve a "Return to Sender" stamp.

I will say that the Zephyr of which is the topic of debate was and is a nice car...but it could have been a lot more.

    "It's customized."
"He's blazing trails with his vision."
"It's his car, leave him alone."
    "It's just a car."

Same could be said for ANY car. You get my point, right?
