You can mount a ****on style floor dimmer switch on the firewall, to the left of the brake pedal-ideally under carpet-somewhere it won't be accidentally hit. Hook up the power side to the ignition power wire and one of the other terminals to the ignition coil. You can switch it on or off without anyone knowing. You could further complicate this by adding a wire that runs from the other terminal of the switch to a relay that is connected to the horn and starter solenoid; when the ignition is off and the engine is cranked, the horn will sound as an alarm. It usually can be done for less than 20 bucks.

Don't confuse Bakersfield (or many Central San Joaquin Valley towns for that matter) with California. What you know as Calif is San Fransicko and Lost Angels. 75% of the state is made up of rural, decent, patriotic people (Country Folk). It's the degenerates who invade our territory from the cesspool big cities that cause our problems.

Don't be a hater. There are plenty of insulting names for the Central Valley cities too. Everyone that lives in the bigger cities ISN'T a "degenerate" and all the big cities aren't "cesspools". I live here and I don't have to prove my patriotism or decency to anyone. Get a grip, dude.

Not necessarily. I hope you don't feel because I offered a counter opinion to Willys36's that it would cause a big fight. I just think when people says things that are volatile or use name calling; maybe more like labeling here, we shouldn't ignore it. That jsut perpetuates it.

Willys36, if you feel I insulted you, I apologize. There are bad people in big cities just as there are everywhere. I feel categorical thinking - everyone some place is bad or labeling places as bad because of the news you hear coming from there is bad is lazy thinking. There are GREAT people everywhere. We jsut have 100's of cable channels, internet, social media etc to fill up these days so they get filled up with negative news.

No insult taken. My comment was very incendiary, resulting from this state's death spiral coming from big city So******ts who have a super majority in state government. I realize there are great people everywhere, I have many friends and relatives in the greater LA area.

  10. Where the problem arises when a discussion becomes heated (even slightly) is that someone hits the report ****on. There is a world of difference between a healthy discussion of a topic and drama but the report ****on can make a healthy discussion to appear to be drama which will cause a threads demise.

Soooo stay away from the ****on. @willys36 is a grown man and is probably not offended. I am certainly not offended and I am pretty sure that @Dan in Pasadena is alright too. ;)

Some good idea's have been posted here for theft protection. What I gather is it's really up to you the owner, to keep your Sh!% in your possession how ever you see fit to do it. Myself I try and not make it too easy for the low life's to acquire my Sh!%. Not saying they won't, or can't just saying they aren't just gonna walk up and slip in the drivers seat and cruise off. I'm not that easy of a target. Well in my opinion anyway! Joe

  13. I have shirt tail relatives in Fresno still, they have never been any farther from home than say Sacramento. I am the black sheep in the family and they make me look real presentable. LOL

Nothing wrong with the Central Valley, Mom lived in Chowchilla until we got involved in the second war. I have worked the fields in the Valley more than once. I am not sure that I mentioned that there was anything wrong with the Valley just that country folk in the mid west are different than country folk in Calif.

I haven't left my keys in the visor for a long time. :D

It is up to the owner to keep track of their own chit. There are no doubt lots of ways to get the job done, I think that any of us that want to keep track of our stuff just needs to choose the one that works best for us.

For me keeping track of my stuff is Not losing my Keys so they stay in the ignition where they belong...lol. Cause if I bring them in the house, you can be damn sure either me or the kids will lose them.

  17. LOL thanks man I was having trouble figuring that one out. :D

I don't carry a shooter, I own a greener but its too big to fit in my pocket. The problem with a shooter is if you have one you are probably going to have to use it and they make way too much noise.

    1. get an old cell phone. uninstall pretty much everything or turn everything unneeded off to maximize battery life.
    2. Find the cheapest prepaid plan with data or a top-up/pay as you go open plan as i find dont need much data.
    3. If iPhone turn on "Find My Phone" track the phone at icloud.com
    4. if Andoid get a Google/gmail account for the phone. track phone from myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone
    5. get an under dash USB mounted socket and wire it in discreetly. such as here.
    6. hide the phone and plug it into the usb for charging. i found those sticky valcro strips work well for this.

You can now track your car. even if the cars battery is disconnected you should have from 2 - 7 days charge on the phone to track it and with luck get it back.

Costs me $1 a month. and as a bonus you have an emergency phone hidden in the phone just encase.

Instead of a steering wheel club, I made a driveshaft club from 1/2" plate. It slipped over the U joit at the pinion. I should have attached some bells to it. I slept better on trips.
