There any value in a Lincoln AutoDim eye?

I picked up this thing not knowing what it was for $1. I thought it was some kind of spot light until I took it apart realized what it was. From the few pics I could find, it is later than 69. Its shaped like an old microphone, with a big clear round lense. Inside is some kind of radio tube and a small window where the light would p*** to it.

I was going to gut it and drill out the aperture window and install a bulb. I was just curious if am about to destroy something much more valuable.
