I do wonder about this, also.
My hopes (and impressions) are that cars built with a traditional 'essence' will be accepted.

Like I said in the guidelines... The forum is gonna be run by my (and my pal's) definition of tradition. Is that definition, right? Beats me... I wasn't there... But I can tell you that it was that definition that started this place and it's that definition that will either keep it going or kill it.

So, your outlook probably depends on your opinion of me and my pals. And that's one scary *** thought!

But, in the end, I disagree with ya. If traditional hot rods and customs are your thing, we are about to start kicking a lot of *** - together. And I'm so confident in that, I'm betting my livelihood on it.

Thanks Ryan! I'm 100% thrilled about the proposed changes. Since I started reading this forum, it has seemed obvious that more and more off topic content was being left to p*** over the years. Often lately I have thought if I could only be a moderator to this group myself, there would be no question that there was a new sheriff in town. So, my personal opinion is that it was something that really did need fixing. Good job.

There will be sidebars on stuff like this like always... One subject that comes to mind is the infiltration of German land speed knowledge into late 1940's land speed racing. Fascinating stuff... So fascinating, that we will let some of that stuff in. It's art and inspiration.

The point here is this - we are refocusing on traditional hot rods and customs. We are gonna be hard ***es about it. We are gonna make some enemies inadvertently almost certainly. Some folks will totally understand this direction and others won't. For me, it's gonna totally **** at times.... and I'm sure I'll make a bunch of mistakes... But I'm going for it!

Ohhh... and Malcolm, you got nothing to worry about. Well, your car doesn't anyway. :)

As you probably expected Ryan, the changes will and have already, stirred up discussion and emotions. You need to do what you feel is right, most will understand. I do.

On the other hand, when I started my build thread, the idea was to keep it traditional all the way. Now I've run into a few aesthetic and safety issues which perhaps may cross the line. (even though most are not visible from the outside). Things like radial tires, Hilborn efi on my 392 and airbags to name a few of the major ones. While trying to maintain the traditional aspect, safety and a low stance are more important to me. Personally, I would be sad to see my thread closed, even if it was only for the guys following it and the great support and knowledge I received from them.

Realizing that changes need to be made to keep the site back on track, I will respect your decision, whatever that may be.

    Eric.

    Right On! Ryan,
I was really getting tired of all the S10 and T-5 and other OT stuff.
    Thanks for the great site!

I rarely post here, since my build is OT. Big question I see is; Why are you here? Is it to see, enjoy, discuss, help and share traditional Hot Rods? If so, this it THE place to do that. If you want to push boundaries, test moderators, and show off non relevant stuff that there are other sites for, maybe you are loggin in to the wrong URL. This here site is for the Traditional Rod, and stayin that way.
