There are alot of first times in life- first kiss, first love, first drunk, etc., but there is nothing like starting up a car for the first time and driving it. I have built dozens and dozens of cars over the years, but I still get goosebumps every time I drive one for the first time. This evening I started and drove the '27 Ford Track T roadster that I started building exactly one year ago today. I drove it around the yard in first gear, and there were only a couple of lug nuts holding each of the wheels on, I was sitting on the floor because the seats aren't in it yet, but every thing worked perfectly. The clutch engaged smoothly, the brakes worked awesome, and it steered where I wanted it to go. The headlights need to be aimed, the timing is a tad off, and there are dozens of other little things that need attention but you can't beat the feeling of the first time.
Oh, that's fantastic! I hope there was someone to take pictures of you and your ****-eating grin! Congrats!
even putting a new engine in a car you've had for awhile does that i think. i just built and dropped a 461 olds for my daily and even 600 miles and 5 weeks later, i still get a **** eating grin every time i start it
That's cool. Whenever I come home on leave (which is about every two years or so) I can't wait to start my car. It's like the first time everytime.
