Thermostats for 1953 Mercury Motor

    I just bought car with a 1953 Mercury Motor I want to know where I can buy thermostats for it and what heat range to use. Thanks. P. S. e-mail at BobDebi@webtv.com.

    160 degree. Try NAPA or any of the major auto part stores. If I remember correctly Prestone #330-160 is what I have in mine.

    These are a great type to use and I think are available thru Parts America on the web delivered to your door.:D I don't think NAPA has these available. Name may have changed from Prestone to Mr. Gasket though. They were designed as hi-flow stats for the '57 Chevy engines.

    i also run 160 degree stats in my flatty i did get them from napa,dont
    remember the #

    just buy modern 160 t-stats for a sbf thats what ive used in edelbrock heads and stockers, you can get them at any auto parts store
