Technical These two make one ?

Hello. I am wondering if the one goes over the other. I had to fix the lower of grill where it was broken. The black shell almost goes over the gray piece. But should it? Been looking up parts but most of these are old parts we got with my uncles car after he p***ed.

 

I am not sure what you are asking but the grill looks like it fits in the grill shell to me.

 

Those look like two completely different aftermarket 33/4 ford grill shells. I don’t think they go together but the second one is missing the insert/grill bars

 

The black shell is completely smooth on inside. I looked at one like it but the back is made like the gray one with mounts for bars and tabs for radiator. Not sure if they were combining the two to make a useable piece??

 

They're not supposed to overlap. You've got a blank fibergl*** replica grille shell with no insert, and another one with a custom insert but with the radiator filler cap/top piece missing.
