I, too, have known Sam for several years (even before he started handing out his award at Autorama) and I always thought well of him. It always seemed his heart was in the right place. However, as anyone who received his recent phone calls about the Detroit show can attest to, his baseless innuendo about what is supposedly going on behind the scenes at Detroit borders on slander. He won't come out and say what he means, just the "I'm just sayin . . ." kind of thing. I've lost all respect for the guy. That type of character assassination without having any facts is just plain McCarthyism (you young guys will have to look that up). Shame on him for his cheap-ass way of trying to undermine an organization and the people who run it. Anyone who knows the Larivees know they aren't trying to screw anybody. Get off your high horses--the panel jam is nice but it doesn't make a difference in the show's bottom line one way or another (any idea what it might cost to rent Cobo Hall for a few days?), which is proof they aren't trying to screw anyone.

So very true, that and the fact that the tables and chairs the stripers use, the stage, the bleachers, electricity at the location, ESPECAILLY the setup of all this stuff, cost CASI (Championship Auto Shows Inc) money. Cobo Hall is a union hall and not one chair gets distributed without the union getting their paws in it. CASI pays for that as 100% of the proceeds of the auction go to the charity.

  4. Thanks, Ian for posting the link for those who would have trouble making their way to the HAMB'striper's social group. I thought about doing that myself but my intent was to have this O/T, non-issue post increase our numbers over at the HAMB'stripers, maybe begin to replicate what the old StripeKult was like. Your link gets 'em there without them having to sign-up.

Actually, I always thought this was a private forum to which the public has limited access.
