Great deal!!! I came across a similar deal (50 Merc) for $200 bucksabout 12 years ago, also in Los Angeles (Hankock Park) but I had no place to put it no money to put into it and a girlfriend telling me not to do it.

This morning I passed an older woman in a very solid '55 Chevy. The paint was faded and stained, and everything about the car looked original.

Yes, this kind of stuff is still out there...

 

after 4 years finally an update. this car sat idle in my back yard untill recently when the thought of attending another Santa Maria car show without a car to drive up put a fire under my butt.
about 2 moths ago I pulled it out deep storage and installed a 305 SBC and 350 trans.
I never tackled a motor swap before but it wasn't bad.

with about 35 test miles on it, my wife and I hit the road for SM. it performed great.





out with the old,




after lots of clean up and some paint,





it did have a spot of rust on the passenger side floor, I made a patch.


fellow club member BigE sold me a good used motor from his dads old work van, it had recently been rebuilt and was squeaky clean inside.




new comfy seat,

wiring things up,

I always wanted a car with a tall shifter.

some new rubber,




on the road north stopped for gas,



at our motel in Santa Maria, it was an awesome 1st drive and now that the weekend is over its time to tackle that 4X4 stance.,
