I wish I had some parts to throw your way to help out, but all my B/RB stuff is gone these days...this whole thread makes me want to do a Pontiac powered AA/FA, but I have a Gas Cl*** sedan to finish first, and then the reproduction of the car in my avatar...maybe the AA/FA will be next in line...

As long as you're tying the blocks together via the subframe, tie them together via the heads/bellhousing...make brackets to bolt the front engine's bellhousing to the rear engine's heads and water pump...that'll be sure to keep things straighter...and if you plan it out right, it might only be an extra 2 or 3 bolts to remove either engine...

Hey, if you ever do get to building that Pontiac, be sure to get in touch with me. I've spent a stupid amount of time studying the dynamics of running nitromethane in a true wedge engine, and I honestly believe I know how it can be made to work. All I'm needing now is a test dummy.

I've got some "early" RB valve covers, the ones with no provision for PVC or oil fill (the engines had the old road draft tubes). They are probably useless to you, but you're welcome to them! :D

Thank you very much for the offer, but I think I need to go with cast aluminum covers because of their extra clamping ability.
Now if anybody out there has 4 Mickey Thompsons for a good deal, lemme know!

Oh ****, I forgot I had a pair of M/T valve covers I use as wall art...hahaha...we'll have to work out a deal on those...I also have a no name full foot pedal (the drag boat/g***er style with the diamond grip pattern), and I might still have a Mallory dual point distributor, but I'm sure you're running magnetos anyway...

Yeah...lemme know on those M/T, and if you can send me a pic of that pedal...I'm wanting nothing but old school and traditional on this car. It's gotta look like it was built in '69

I'll get pics when I head back to my storage garage when I pick up my furniture to move into the new house...the valve covers and pedal will both be right at home in that era...along the my ribbed Cal Custom carb scoop, but I think I'm keeping that...

10-4 I followed you on tieing the cranks together. I thought I read where you planned to tie the two blowers together via a common shaft. Using chain or belt from crank to blower drive on each engine is what I was trying to clarify. I'd like to see some sort of Potvin-like blower setup on this build.

BTW, try to put a wanted parts list together and post it on here. We'll see what we can contribute to the great cause. Steven

  11. the flexplate idea works fine there used to be a fed called twin jinx over here with two big fords used the same idea as you.
or you could use a funny car coupler from lenco with a smal amount of modification as for the blowers you could use this idea also but on a smaller scale this way if one blower lifts it wont hurt the other to much. or as already said potvin style would work and be chaeper using 4 barrel manifolds. wont look nice though.

You might want to bring an extra pair of underoos when you get ready to drive that thing.

Thanks for the info on the twin Ford...good to know it's been done with success before.
There's no way to do a front mount blower on this thing...I've still got to get a 12 or so gallon tank out there without making it look too ungainly. I plan on using a flex coupler of some sort between the blowers, but I'v got a zillion other details to sift through before I get there.

    Tony, you crazy F^&*!
Glad to se the sanity truck still hasn't dropped off your load. Looks like a good idea, and it seems the wheels are turning. Gotta ask tho; stock blocks? Fits the time frame, but guys are tossing the mains around unblown on gas.... Good Luck and keep us filled in.

MAS in St. Paul,MN sells spun aluminum tanks for a reasonable price...they supply Speedway with em, so just buy em from MAS for cheaper...

Y'know...I just got this thing for iron blocks. It's stupid, I know...I know.
The car will probably end up with aluminum at some point, but for right now, I'm gonna burn through the stack of iron blocks I already own.
There's a catch though! And like all of historys great ***holes, I have an answer for everything.
Back when I was screwing around with Iron Hemis, I came up with a device...a dogbone shaped brace, made of 1/8th 4130 that could be welded into the pocket right above the main stud boss/below the bottom of the cylinder bore. that would keep the saddle from cracking off to the side of the oil hole. I never got to try it out on the Hemi, but both of the engines in this car will have them welded in place.

NOTHING sounds sweeter than an iron block whatever on fuel.

I've never been big on the exhibition drag car thing preferring to watch compe***ive cars to run against each other but I'd pay to watch that one run.

Who's tires are you going to run on the rear? I'm thinking about buying some stock and I see a possible spike in sales for someone.

Yeah, see....I put a TON of thought into this contraption. I built the rear of the car based on a 100 inch (101, 102...it's all close enough) rollout tire. I've got two sets of rims...one set of 15's and one set of 16's. Reason being, if I'm going for ET, I can screw on a set of the 13x33 16 spec N/Top Fuel tires...and if I'm going for the fog show, I can use cheepo doorslammer 14x32 15 hand me downs....the most common drag slick known to man.

That's exactly what makes this project so special.....there is too much cookie cutter now, and here is a guy who is working on a low budget, but high in inventiveness and creativity...sure, there will be problems, but if you don't have problems, you're not trying hard enough! I love the at***ude behind this twin, it the same at***ude that guys like Jim Nelson used to build a twin-flathead dragster (with a '29 sedan body!) and the Bean Bandits, who also tried every engine combo, including twins....you're keeping the old drag racing flame lit!...good show!

Are you really sure that that pulley can handle the full output of the front motor?

Also, I am not following you on the HP examples you cited. How does the front motor know that it is delivering power to another motor instead of a driveshaft?

The rear motor does not represent resistance...the clutch and drivetrain does.
