any one know where I could get some thin chrome for door panels? Straight is fine, about 1/4' wide. Would need about 8'.

another option may be stainless steel. Your local steel warehouse should stock a variety of stainless. 1/8 x 1/4 is probably the closest that you'll find in flat stock, Then again you could always buy the thin stuff by the sheet.

Trim guys will surely chime in here, but there are suppliers that have what you're looking for. Stu

Here's some stainless pieces I salvaged from a 55 Olds (door panel trim). for a project. Lot's of 50's cars had this type of trim with bend over tabs to attatch them to the trim board.

I get mine from Clayton Machine Works. WWW.claytonmachine.com. I use the aluminum trim pieces. It comes in different widths and can be bent or shaped however you like it. I drill small holes in the back and use very small screws to hold it in place. Measure carefully so you don't run the screw completely through the trim. File the ends and a little polish and you are ready to go

Great if that works for you, but $35 for a 4ft long section of 1/4" square aluminum? McMaster Carr sells a 6ft long 1/4" square piece of 6061 aluminum for $4.18! They have a number of other cross sections and lengths as well.

  7. I've used the ones from CMW, they are much more detailed than what you would get from McMaster-Carr. The CMW pieces are extruded shapes, with radiused edges instead of just round, square, hex or rectagular. This would be like comparing a piece of quarter round trim with a piece of ornate shoe or toe molding....no comparision.
