OK you been here, but come again and remember Boston is a walking city-- you can walk from the State House (the golden dome), Beacon Hill, Quincy Market, the (Italian) North End (see the Old North Church).... Short drive to Concord (the rude bridge that arched the flood... Emerson,Thoreau) and Lexington... Coming in the fall? Pick apples at Honey Pot orchard in Stow (yes that's Stow M***.) Coming in May July September? Like flea markets? Check out the world's largest in Brimfield ... http://www.brimfieldshow.com/ Check out the car show and flea market in Amherst NH last Sunday of every month April - October. Take a drive to Rockport, Bearskin Neck, and Pigeon Cove, on the North Shore. Beautiful oceanside country. So much more....
We walked and walked for 4 days until we bought transit p***es. BTW the driver/guide on the duck told us that the dome on the State house has 13 lbs. of gold on it - at todays prices that would be $307,931.52 worth. Love the city, people were cool, heard some great verbal exchanges in downtown traffic - "Hey, move ya fackin cah!" "Fack you ya facking idiot, shove ya cah up ya ***" Great stuff at a very high volume. Homeless guys were dressed better than me, street meat vendors very cool, Didn't see any hot rods in our time there (except at the Larz Anderson). Saw one 57 chevy rag top, nothing special. Probably not in the right locale though.
If you like sea food the NO-Name restaurant is a must. Coming from Ontario you may not have the feel for the NO-Name like some of us that have been away for a while have. I don't miss Boston, only the food. They can keep there liberal ****.
If you come back I definitely recommend a walk down Newbury street on a nice sunny day. You will see some amazing cars out and about. Make sure to check the small parking lots off to the side as well, the ones that charge about $50 an hour to park you're guaranteed to see some cool stuff in there. As for other things to do in Boston, the Freedom Trail is great. It takes you past some amazing historical sites, and also through some neighborhoods with great food like the North End.
I think Sturbridge Village is cool. I haven't been there in ages, it's probably bigger now. JR, former Brookline and Quincy guy
We had great luck using the trolley tours, where you can get on and off when you want...for anyone else going...Also Johnny D's has great live music...Dale Watson, McMurtry, etc.
