A few of us are flying in for the GNRS in a few weeks; we will be coming in town on Wednesday and fly out on Tuesday. We plan on hitting the show over the weekend and of course the Peterson and NHRA Museums but we want to load up on some other sites to possibly checkout while in So Cal. I am listing stops at Justice Bros, the Huntington Beach Surf Museum, maybe So-Cal Speed also kicking around Palmdale on Saturday afternoon as possibilities. I have seen that Parnelli Jones has a small collection does anyone know if it is open to the public? Any other suggestions?
go to the petersen automotive museum, also the bobs big boy in burbank should be good that friday, leave your hotel by 630-7pm will take about 30-45 min to get ther from almost anywhere in LA. ig your into bike hit up the garage company, then maybe bartels HD.
That was kicked around....We will be in Huntington Beach maybe rent some boards and give it try, the museum doesn't open till noon, only two out of the four on the trip are really into surfing though to be honest. Do alot of surfing in Hatboro? I was in Ivyland Wednesday, MD Race Cars. Abe, thanks for the Big Boy tip, that's the stuff we are looking for... We did a tour a few years back and hit Blairs in Pasadena, Moon, Edelbrock, So-Cal and some private garage open houses. What a trip! Peterson and NHRA Museums are definite stops again. Any other Ideas?
make sure you visit canters deli after you leave the petersens museum. they are on fairfax...right up the street. visit cw moss antique ford parts house in old town orange. visit bill's antique ford parts house in old town san dimas (not far from pomona nhra museum) its worth the trip.
Donut-Derilicts.........Saturday morning, get there by 6am, corner Adams and Magnolia,Huntington Beach, lotsa *****in Rods always !! A must when in the area..............
since you'll be in HB anyway, hit the Donut Derelicts Saturday Morning Car Show on the corner of Adams & Magnolia. It's basically a mix of cars and bike styles, but all generally good. Donuts, coffee and about 200 or more cars every Saturday morning 6am to 8am.
Is the Long Beach Swap Meet worth the trip on Sunday the 28th? Thanks for all the suggestions by the way!
Bobs Big Boy is great. Seems like the lot begins to fill up early, like 4pm, and people come and go all night. Good burgers too. Donut Derelicts is another good one. If you're visiting NHRA Museum and Early Ford Store in San Dimas on a Wednesday, there's a nice local cruise just west of there, Grand Ave and Arrow Highway, Glendora, at the In 'n Out burger. From San Dimas just take Arrow west for a few miles to Grand Ave.
Definitely Canter's for a Reuben sandwich...it's where I saw a drunk Broderick Crawford at three in the morning in 71. It's on Fairfax across from CBS.
Spend some money at one of Bobby Green's joints... http://www.bigfootlodge.com/ http://www.theluckytiki.com/ http://www.saintsandsinnerslounge.net/

Isn't Felipe's Famous Beef Dips near the Peterson? Thats worth a good lunch, coffee is still a nickle & they have a great old time candy selection. My mouth waters everytime I think about going there,,,,great beef dips. If you like(ed) slot cars, hit the track in Buena Park,it's pretty close to Surf City. Heres a link,& have fun! http://www.bparkraceway.com/
Bob's Big Boy shoul be great, If you are on the west side of the San Fernando Valley on Fri night, Flames on Corbin an Plummer also has a cruise night. not as many cars as Bob's though. if you have time, maybe also go to the Nethercutt museum in Sylmar. No hot rods, but a great collection of superbly restored cl***ic cars
Tuesday is the "Village Idiots" gathering that BadBob has put together for us HAMB'rs. Pm him for directions. Just a kool little gathering to get together on a Tuesday night. KNUX!

Long Beach swap is always good...after the swap hit Joe Jost's on Anaheim Street, for an ice cold schooner of PBR draft (guarenteed to be 29 degrees max) Also, best pickled eggs on the west coast and you gotta have a special! For night time in Long Beach hit Hit Alex's Bar (right next door to JJ)- great music, cool bar and the Puka Bar on Willow. The Pike is also a place worth checkin' out... Just might see ya there! http://www.joejosts.com/walloffame.php http://www.pukabar.com/ http://www.alexsbar.com/ http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=21071924

How about down in the Huntington Beach area? Are places like Ca. Street Rods, Foose's, Steve Davis, Art Chrisman, the Discovery/Speed/Spike studios open for public viewing? How about Kugel Komponents in La Habra? Is Barris' shop near the Bog Boy's cruise and open for tourists? Where are the Kennedy Boys and Bobby Walden located? Boy is this going to be a busy four days Thanks, Dennis
My fiance is from LA. She loves to rub in how cool Bobs Big Boy in Burbank is with all the bad*** cars. Then I say...oh yeah when was the last time you went to In-N-Out. Then she gets homesick, and I get jealouse. I'm not sure which is worse.
