so Im entertaining the thought of pickin this model t 27 roadster project up (actually trading for a engagement ring) and building a 40s lake racer style roadster I of coarse want to build a 32 or model a 29-31 roadster but this might have to do due to the economic times

i never really have been into the T bodies but i found a couple cool pics online wondering if you guys could post some others

    heres the project

I have to agree with the judges giving out the award for the first AMBR. There's just something about a properly done track T. To bad the one I have to build on is not half as nice as that one. Add to that, the one you're looking at is already on an A frame with a dropped axle and steelies. All it really needs is decent flat motor, or a little Red Ram HEMI! Get rid of the 32 shell, add a track nose and maybe a set of belly pans, and you're on your way.

That said, if it's not what you really want, DON'T do it! Let someone else have it that will appreciate it for what it is and what it could be. Someone who will take it and do it justice. Not someone who is "making do" until "economic times" improve (a good trick considering the band of idiots running DC these days), or "something better" comes along.

Thats true, or you could pick it up, work on the chassis and use that t body as a part payment on the A body you want.

That sounds like a pretty darn good trade! Only thing, use a different grille, the '32 never looks right matched to a "T", in my opinion :)

you might as well make the trade. You will have alot more fun building that T then you would just letting that ring sit around in your drawer.

That looks like a pretty good start. I'd go through with the trade in a flash! Diamonds are forever but Hot Rods are more fun.

  13. Do it man, the T is a much better candidate for an early lakes car than a 32 or any of the As! Take a look in the little books or get a hold of Don Montgomerys books on the early days of the lakes. The T was king, it was latter that the 32 became a player.

  18. I guess the trade depends on the size of the rock! They mine diamonds every day, but it's been a number of years since the last Henry Built roadster came out of the factory. I'd hate for you to swap a 20K rock for a 10K roadster.

Just remember if it has tits or tires your going to have trouble with it, it just depends on which one you deal with best.

Go to my album site - AZCOWBO - you can see my '27 T with a 425 HP - 383 stroker, the SANTOS/BUTTERA "Billet-T" I am rebuilding, and the rest of the Ts I either own or have had. It will get you heart racing. I am a T-Bucket Junkie.

Sorry to burst your bubble BUT the first AMBR winner was Bill Niekamp's 1929 Model A Roadster with track nose, full hood and bellypan, NOT a track T.

Sounds better then the deal I did back in the 70's, Traded my 69 Mach 1 for an engagement ring, now I have niether! Sure miss that Mach 1!
Really, that sounds like a good deal for the money (value). I did the same thing, been looking for a Model A roadster for a while, ended up with a 27 instead. Looking foward to having the time to build it, the more I look at track nose Ts the more I'm liking them.

There's a lot more room in '27 roadsters than people think. I moved the bulkhead behind the seat back 6", dropped the floor between the rails 1-1/2" and removed the stock toe boards and added a foot well in mine. I'm just under six feet and my shoulder is level with the top of the body.....Most comfortable car I have....

Get it!! That will be an awesome ride. Actually that's the exact rod I was gonna build a few years ago. I had the body (man a nice set of side panels for the turtle deck are hard to find), frame & 324 engine. Then I sold it for something the whole family could fit in, 56 Olds 98 coupe. Still wish I hadn't sold it... would've been sweet.
On a side note, I too have a Rhino. Mine's set up with four PRP seats & a fourseater roll cage for the dunes. Again, something for the whole family to enjoy.
