All, thinking about buying this 1929 Tudor from Kansas. http://www.oldride.com/classic_cars/935721.html Anyone out there, know of this build? It's a long way to KS from Indianapolis... so I'm trying to find a little about it first... I'm trying to reach out to the owner too. Let me know
MAD 034: It's a V6.... Hotrodprimer: YES...Wheels would have to go... Overall looks good in a little picture... That's why I hope a KS HAMB'er knows of it...
The style of the build looks as if its been together quite some time. The picture alone is five years old. When they say "needs body work" that means rust repair and paint to me. You already know it needs an engine and transmission. I there a hood and sides? Needs a dash. Wheels. No interior. 12K seems way to much to me for a total redo. Sometimes your better off to start from scratch then do everything over which it appears that Model A needs. You could dump another 20K in that car to finish it nicely and then you'd have 32K in a Model A tudor sedan. Thats just not cost effective. If I were you I'd keep on looking.
Not trying to nit pick the picture but correct me if I am wrong? But doesn't the rear wheel seem off center more towards the front of the rear fender? Or is it just the picture? Just thinking out loud....
^^^^^^^^^^ No more than some of the '32 's I have seen. Never seen that one at any of the local shows here, good luck with your purchase.
Definately something looks wrong/off. Look at the difference in the downward angle of the runningboard and then look at the straight, almost uphill, line of the door sills and window openings.
hmmm, I am not getting a good vibe from the ad and photos. please make the trip before you make a decision
Just about everything in Missouri sucks, (except for the HAMB Drags) including that car. I'd run as fast as I could away from it. Total redo. At least $5000.00 to much.
You see the consensus, this car will take a long inspection before you make an offer. Asking price is not realistic but are they ever? If your buying for body and frame, even These pics tell me you can do a lot better. Somebody wise told me to never buy a headache if you don't have to.
ive seen a few built with the v-6. they were good drivers.. the rear wheel doesnt seem off. its the angle of the picture. my A coupe looks the same way in a few photos. if its a good solid well built car. buy it. changes can be made as you go.
tierod, I gave you my honest opinion of the Model A tudor to prevent you from making a serious mistake. Some other very knowledgeable HAMBers have voiced negative opinions on the car as well. As Fat ASS Whitewalls said "run away from that car as fast as you can". Trust me, if you buy that car you'll own it for the rest of your life. Its not what is considered desirable by any means. Its a dog. Check with bobwop who commented on this thread he usually has a few nice cars for sale. Good luck on finding something decent. Gary
Looks like a Mustang II front end, you can barely see the rack in the one picture, that's the first thing that needs to go. I'll agree that something looks wrong with the rear wheel location. By the time you do updates, etc, you'll have quite a bit invested.
I'll weigh in on the side of passing on this car. There are plenty of properly built nice model A sedans for sale. That one would take a lot of work to get it looking right.
There are a lot of better deals on the HAMB Classifieds. No need to buy a FUGLY car when you don't have to. I commend the OP for asking HAMBer's for their opinions. Hopefully they have saved him from making a huge mistake.
