Find a room. It’s the best car gathering around nowadays.

I’ve been attending since the first one. It is the one show that I would NOT miss.

I was late and the show was full but I'm still going. I already had a room at the Fairfield. I park in the back of the headquarters and walk to the front to see all the high roller cars. I stumble around registration, buy a T shirt and ask for a map of the Friday cruise which always includes the Pioneer Woman tourist trap. Friday evening hang out, listen to the band and again look at cars. Saturday I pay the admission to the park and park in the spectator area. I assemble my scooter and go looking at cars. Saturday night we take our granddaughter and her family to dinner and Sunday head home. Had the same amount of fun as the guys with the window stickers. I'm planning on taking my daily driver deuce pickup which doesn't qualify anyway.

We're looking for rooms, not much left.

  6. Finding a room is the hard part. We got a decent house through airbnb a couple years ago and it was pretty nice. It is definitely worth the time to make. I have made the first three so far. I entered every year except last year and I don't know that it was really any different not entering.

Gary (krylon32) how would your 32 pickup not qualify? I do agree that you don’t have to have a car entered to enjoy the event.

My deuce pickup is not a shiny show car it's my daily driver. No fluff. When you enter you have to send a picture for the show promoters to approve. I know a couple guys with cars/trucks nicer than mine that said they weren't accepted?

They keep the car count relatively low for the actual show, they try not to have to many repeat cars as well. Thst said there’s twice as many cars at the host hotel having fun. Show up Thursday night leave Sunday morning and try to do it all. It’s a blast and well worth the effort.

you can try getting a room in pawhuska it’s probably just as close/ far time was as the far east side of the city where we stayed last time.

oh and cell coverage is crap. I’m bringing good walkie talkies next time

  12. This is true and sort of made me remember times prior to having cell phones which was a nice break. I had to just wander around to find folks. I may have even seen you a few times. :D

I haven't missed one yet and I've never taken a car to the event. I'll drive the Galaxie this year and park in the spectator lot. Of all of the shows that are currently operating, this one is my favorite.

Best advice I have is go to everything, every night at the host hotel, the full reliability run, anything you hear about. Do it all.

Also wandering around pawhuska during the run while people get food, every parking spot is a hot rod but there is a big lot to the south west of down town that is always packed with rad stuff you might haven’t seen yet.

I did my first roc weekend in a Subaru and still did everything and had a blast. You’ll love it.

If you walk south from the small tank on the lawn you’ll see it right away

  27. The coverage out of this event is always killer. Looking forward to it. Some of us have to stay home, hopefully the weather co-operates.

My wife and I were looking at going this year, flying form the UK. 15 hour flight to OK, I assume because there's nothing direct, but we were still set to go. Unfortunately work got in the way, but Im not ging to let it next year, we're definitely going!!

Looking forward to all the pics, see what we missed ..
