I just lost my mom on april 12th due to cancer, she was only 59.My mom and her husband had a variaty of projects on the go. She was doing a 1940 chev coupe on her own. Maybe I will finish it for her. I still have my dad and im greatfull for that. Happy fathers day dad, and to all you dads on the H.A.M.B.

  2. This will be my first Father's day without my Dad. He died the day before Valentine's Day of this year, from leukemia. I miss Dad every day. He was a Navy veteran, who served the entirety of the Korean War; and was an electrician and entrepeneur his whole life. He got to see his eightieth birthday. Dad was a man ahead of his time in many ways.

    Quite true.

Ricci32, I'm sorry for your loss. I know where you are at right now.

My old man died in April of 2004, at 71 years of age from a massive heart attack. The good part of that is he died quickly without much suffering, wasn't a burdon on my mother(who has done nothing but care for others her whole life), and most of the paperwork and such was in order or close to it.

Sadly, it is through loss that we learn to appreciate what we still are blessed with.

I wish he was still around, if for no other reason that tech questions, ;) as he was a 45+ year journeyman mechanic, racer/tuner. On the other hand, I'm also glad he's not due to the state of things these days.......he'd be having a fit!

I guess the point im trying to make is take the time, life is short and although every time i think of him i can only smile no grief no unresolved issues ,but life is not the same and it dosent have the same shine. A good friend said we are beconmming the old guys and its time for us to pass along what we know. He also said i want to live my life your father he woke up in a good mood every day. thanks everyone

I lost my dad jan 25th, 2009 he was 67, I like many on here was my best friend, and was a great mechanic, machinist, general handy man. He got me into cars and i miss his advice and zeal for it.
I also could not go back into the shop for a long time, only this past two years, (now that my parents house is sold and me and my wife have bought one of our own with a garage) have i been able to hot rod again. Its like you dont know how to do it without his in put.
My willys jeep has proven to me that I can do it on my own and I hope I make him proud. The funny thing is he disliked jeeps called them junky jeeps lol. I miss him every day

My father was most likely your fathers best friend. Left when I was 4 and drank himself to death by the time I was 10 in 1967.
Because of him I was/am a good father so he taught me something after all.

My dad died in 2006 at the age of 89, but I really lost him to Alzheimers 2 years before. I stayed with him the last two years so he could be at home but he didn't know who I was.

My Dad taught me everything, good and bad, which is still good. He is why I am what I am today. Origional hot rodder with loads of stories from before the war and through the '70's. I'm only now beginning to grasp the cool stuff he experienced first hand.

I keep a picture of him checking out a rather involved street rod chassis I was building on my shop office wall. I'm sure in his mind it was a pretty jerk off waste of time, (I've since been cured!). I miss him every day.
