Post pics of the Altima. Honestly, I think it's a fair trade dollar for dollar. But, what is the Altima worth to YOU? Is it reliable, get decent gas milage, not cost a lot to upkeep, drive well, etc? Is it your only late model? Are you willing to sacrifice comfort and possibly reliability? Not that old cars can't be reliable, nothing could be further from the truth, but you personally can't vouch for this particular old car. I'm just saying, think before you act so you're not riding the bus. If it looks legit, it looks like a fair trade

Come on Tim go for it, you know what to look for in terms of rust, and you know what you think your Nissan is worth, if it looks like an okay deal to you, thats all
that counts. I'll donate a set of baby moons if you want them.

Personally, if I were tight on money, I wouldn't trade a '97 Nissan reliable daily driver you know runs good (***umptions here) for a '63 Chevy project car with a fair amount of rust. It will likely **** precious $$ to get it on the road.

If you are trying to get your business going, you don't need a distraction. (Just being honest...I run a business) Any way you cut it, it's a 46 year old somewhat neglected 4 dr. It may be a lot of things, but cheap, reliable transportation it's probably not as it sits.

I know nothing about his altima, so I generalized my price search, with 110,000 miles and fair/average condition. Retail is what you can expect to sell the car for. So I would consider it a good indicator of value.

Compare trade in to trade in price if you prefer, it makes no difference.

All I know about the chevy is what I can see from the pictures....rust, bad tires, ****py interior........for all I (or you) know, the engine could be full of sawdust, the radiator could be full of stopleak and the ****** could be ready to **** itself at any moment. We are not there, we can only offer opinions based on little to no knowledge of the cars in question.

To the OP, If the nissan is a non maintained POS, disregard my estimates, and above all, do what you want. But you did ask for opinions

I'm going top look at it Saturday. My impulsiveness has bit me in the *** in the past, that's why i asked for opinions. I appreciate all of them a great deal. My biggest fear is something catastrophic breaking on the 63. The Altima has 130,000 miles and is dead reliable. I'm trying VERY hard to think with my head and not my heart. The last couple summers have really ****ed without something to cruise and play with. Like i said, it's like therapy for me.

And John, you have no idea how much a appreciate the offer of the wheels. You're one of the nicest guys i've ever had the pleasure of knowing. :)

Don't just jump into a car just to have a car... There are lots of really good deals on cars for those who are patient. You just may have a car fall in your lap... Check out my album and look at my wifes DeSoto... 90% of the car is new down to a rebuilt 3rd member... I got it on craigslist last summer for 3 grand up in Maplewood.. My wife loves it and thats why were keeping it.. It's a ****ing 4 door!!!!

This woman just called me about a 65 Impala. She was kinda vague at 1st. Said it had 35,000 miles on it and was nice. I got very excited and asked her to email me pictures. Then she asked me about what i thought my car was worth. I told her $2500-$3500. She said she was asking $7000 for hers and it was on Craigslist. I told her there was no way my car was worth the same as hers and she asked if i wanted to do payments or had something else i could trade along with my car. I told her that wasn't an option but i appreciated the offer. It was like she wanted me to have her car or REALLY wanted mine. It was weird. Here's the add quoted to avoid the Craigslist rule.

"1965 CHEVY IMPALA, Motor runs like a champ could be used as a project car as far as rehopolstering and outside painting. new tires 5 lug universals, 35K, calipers and brakes new, Asking $7,000 or willing to trade car, truck, van, suv, we just don't have time or energy with a new baby coming to work with this amazing car."

check the frame on the 63 they can coalapse from rust

make them give you some new tags for the 63 if you go that way which could be a little iffy if you have to go to a job??

The harder i think about it the more i'm leaning away from the 63. I'm still gonna go look at it, bit my gut tells me it's rougher than i want.

I've seen that car. Faribault, right? On that same strip there's a few other cars, though I can't remember what they are now. I remember an older 60's Ford pickup that looked nice and maybe another early Bel-Air (or maybe that was this one!). Anyway, depending on the condition it would be a fun trade and probably worth giving a year or two and then re-evaluating.

There's been days when I have wanted to sell my newer car and just drive my old Volvo to save money and h***le, but heated seats kept me in it! That and knowing a Swedish car is about the only thing I trust to start no matter how cold it is.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you, you've got the right idea posting on Craigslist, some really cool stuff pops up on there. There's no rush man, Back to the 50's isn't until June, and what the hell else would you want an old car for?

    Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words, I was offering "Baby Moon" hubcaps, not wheels. Take your time the right thing will show up, but you do have to go look at alot of turds
    until the right car appears.

Me either, but I'd rather have a picture of a '63 Chevy than own an Altima.

You're still tops in my book. :D I'll never forget the deal on the 66. I'm gonna hold off. I need to work on my patience anyways.

Patience, Patience, Patience. Costs you nothing and could save you a lot. The 63 looks a little worse for wear and doesn't strike me as being a good swap. Keep looking, everytime a deal falls over, theres another one comin' down the road.:)
