Don't do it. Just because the dealer wants 17k for that chevy doesn't mean it's worth it. Bobs uncle might be able to walk on the lot and buy it with cash for a whole lot less. You would start to hate that car really fast when it started to suck cash out of your wallet for the constant maintenance that car will need.

Don't get your loin cloth in a bunch for me sayin' this but if you have to finance a hobby you shouldn't have it. Period. Trade it down for something 5-8 years older and drive it. You said you have a '57....hell, drive that if you need an oldie fix. Just don't dig your hole deeper.

I see what you are saying but the Mini is not part of my hobby. The '57 is. I bought the mini as a daily. Yes I can afford it. I just wanted to get out of this particular loan.

I have decided not to trade.

Yep, the mini is cute and a fun little car. And it is loosing value like any other new car. You have the '57 so I think you made the right decision to keep the mini. And I think you have a good idea to try and refinance. Geting a newer daily driver is to save wear and tear on the car you really love, so drive the shit out of the mini and don't worry. Unless a better car comes along...... :)

Burn the mini and get the insurance loot..or get the chevy and burn that..:)

  9. Easy choice. Mini goes down in value by the second, and the car pictured goes up. You can tweak the oldie and give it style. Get out of that mini before the dealer wakes up and changes his mind

Have you checked the value of coopers? I had one , bought new. It was totaled in a very bad accident. I got about new price on a two year old car.

breeder I sais sell the 57 because one of the first things he said is he can not afford the current payment (not that he just wanted out of it), there is a difference. last thing you want to do is ruin your credit any worse..

If he can afford the payment on the mini (or another car) then keep the 57..

keep looking. Its a nice rod, but really question whether it will hold or increase its value.

welcome!!!!im drunk, in a hotel with the wife, 125 miles from home....not sure what im really sayin!!!!:p but i will tell ya this,,,,,,IM DRUNK!!!! hope this helps in your decision!!!!!:) damn.....im drunk.....night!

  16. Did you get the Lojack? if not, take a little trip to Detroit and leave the keys in the ignition somewhere south of say 6 Mile Rd.

Wait about 3 hours before reporting it stolen.

  17. Whaaaaa.........? Man! Ive got a head ache!!
The dealership is asking 17K for the '48. That means you could most likely walk in at the end of the mo. with 14.5K and leave with it. You owe 22K for the Mini-C, and this deal is acceptable to you?
NEVER take a bath like this one, NEVER! Im sorry, that '48 isnt worth it. If you owe 22K on the mini, you cant just make that disappear by trading down to a car that is worth (ON PAPER) 17K.
As someone else said, dump the Mini outright. With gas over 3 bucks a gal., I doubt youd have too much trouble selling it. Clean it up nice and hammer on what great gas mileage it gets. Married? Have her sell it..... most of the people looking at it will be women.

The Mini has to be worth more than 17K. If the Dealership will give you 17k for the Mini on a trade in, they turn around and sell it for 20k+. Look in your local Auto Trader and see what similar cars are going for and sell it privately.

Even using my zip code in the low cost state of Mississippi, Kelly Blue Book gives the 'Private Party' value as:

    <table id="priceCondition" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr valign="middle"><td colspan="3" class="ConditionHeader"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100&#37;"><tbody><tr><td> Condition [IMG]</td> <td class="value"> Value</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" style="padding: 0pt; height: 2px; background-color: rgb(201, 211, 214); font-size: 0pt; margin-bottom: 4px;" class="ConditionBlackLine"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2">
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl00_conditionColumn" style="padding-left: 6px;" class="conditionSelected"> Excellent
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl00_valueColumn" class="valueSelected" align="right"> $21,895
    </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="dotsnomargin" style="padding: 0pt; position: static;">
    </td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2">
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl02_conditionColumn" style="padding-left: 6px;" class="valueText"> Good
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl02_valueColumn" class="value" align="right"> $20,660
    </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="dotsnomargin" style="padding: 0pt; position: static;">
    </td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2">
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl04_conditionColumn" style="padding-left: 6px;" class="valueText"> Fair
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl04_valueColumn" class="value" align="right"> $19,020</td></tr></tbody></table>
I had to guess at the mileage (25K).

    The dealer would get:

    <table id="priceCondition" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr valign="middle"><td colspan="3" class="ConditionHeader"><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tbody><tr><td> Condition [IMG]</td> <td class="value"> Value</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3" style="padding: 0pt; height: 2px; background-color: rgb(201, 211, 214); font-size: 0pt; margin-bottom: 4px;" class="ConditionBlackLine"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td rowspan="2">
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl00_conditionColumn" style="padding-left: 6px;" class="conditionSelected"> Excellent
    </td> <td id="ctl00_ctl00_ctl00_ContentPlaceHolderBody_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_ContentPlaceHolderMiddle_rptValueSummary_ctl00_valueColumn" class="valueSelected" align="right"> $24,450</td></tr></tbody></table>

Seems like a no brainer to me....

  20. You can get quite a bit of car for $10K. I'd sell the coop outright and replace it with something like a Taurus or some other late model beater for a daily.
