Has anyone used a 3rd brake light that looks good with the split rear window on a 1940 Ford Coupe? (non-package shelf) I would like to get one that has a provision for the split in the rear window and not a 1 piece light. Any suggestions? geoford41

Yeah, if you still have the stock rear plate location, get one that attaches to the license plate frame. They show up well, and will give an extra warning that is easy to add. A small chrome pod added to the top wont look modern, but will work like a modern 3rd eye.

I'd go with what he suggested on the license plate bracket if you still have it in the stock location. Otherwise it's walk around the wrecking yards looking at the back windows of vehicles until you see something that will work and still be discrete enough when it isn't lit up that it doesn't look too ugly. I'd probably look at what small hatchback cars have. Ot by Hamber standards but it might save the rear bumper from a soccer mom.

Phill934 that's perfect. I need seat belts also, so Julianio's has just what I want, I did not want to add to the rear licens plate 3rd light. Thanks

my coupe has a split third brake light mounted on window frame. I painted the brushed aluminum black and it blends in with the car better. New Hampshire is the 3rd oldest state working on being #2 so you need all the signal you can get for turns and stopping so some senior citizen trying to see above the steering wheel in their Buick doesn't run up your trunk lid! The split ones are both stop and turn by the way.

In my 39 Deluxe coupe I used one from Julianos that was split and bolted it to the rear window frame. It was a quality product, and looked good as well

My vote would be for a 3rd brake light in the license plate frame. The Juliano's window unit in my 37 split window lit up the interior of the car when the brakes were applied - and it even caught my eye in the day time reflecting off the inside of the back gl*** in the rear view mirror. Despite that little annoyance, if I didn't notice the lights, then I knew my brake lights were out or my brake light switch wasn't working correctly. Less distraction versus auto brake light checking? Gary
