Happy to get out and blow off some dust and miles while filling up with fresh fuel for the upcoming hibernation.

Love your A and glad you could get it out for another drive before the weather sets in! And, yea, I sometimes forget how spoiled I am living where I can typically drive this old stuff about 360 days of the year or so if I want. We rarely get snow and if we do it is only for a day or two at a time typically.

My Word! that looks like a genuine hot rod-no hood, not chopped/channeled, fender, and nerfs. Driver probably scares little old ladies also-and its probably loud. What's this world coming to??

  9. I had the coupe out yesterday for it's most likely last run. The roadster got out the other day for it's final spin. Snow is not the real problem in Connecticut, it's the salt or what ever they use is becomes instant rust. IMG_3648.JPG IMG_3633.JPG

Thank you all for your kind words. Actually any day you can get out and enjoy a session on the two lanes is a great day.

Hoping to sneak the pickup out maybe on Sunday if something else doesn’t get in the way.

Getting greedy? Maybe but as I said anytime you can get out is a good thing. Who knows when the next chance here will be?

I wish! It snowed here November 1 about a foot, that put an end to my cruising season until probably April.

you guys... us poor buggars north of the 49th gotta shut er down in October! Although we didn't have snow until start of November. But it does give us a solid winter season to make it happen in the shop!

Mark, that’s quite a pair of deuces there. They’ve always looked nice but the tweaks you’ve made have turned them up a few more notches!

I don't "mothball" my cars. Here in Kansas there's always a few days every month you can get out.

It's true we have some cool shit! But we do have a short cruising season. Don't get me wrong I appreciate all four seasons we get to enjoy but in the heart of winter or a late start to the spring we sometimes bitch! :D

That coupe is so nice! Tastefully done. I just put mine to bed for the winter about a week and a half ago. We now have about four inches of wet sloppy snow. On another subject do you have any good photos of your front fender mounts? Are your rear fenders steel or fiberglass? That is one of my next projects and I think yours has the perfect look. Thanks

  27. I think winter and the weather it brings may be a incentive for you guys north of the Mason-Dixon line, having to winterize your hot rods and customs is a prime time to do repairs and updates without worrying about the cars being down for a few months. HRP

    Thank you '31chopped coupe!

The rear fenders are Henry steel and I was having my doubts cutting them as they were quite nice. I attempted to have a curve on the front face of the fender that flowed from where the fender mounts, down to the center then back up to the outer bead. To me, the first one is kind of easy but making the second look like the first is a bit of a challenge so I made a pattern. IIRC, I used a piece of the stuff they put under roofing as a nail sealer for the pattern as it is somewhat sticky on both sides and facilitated sticking the opposite side on the other fender to copy the same design.

Below are some front fender mount photos. Make them stronger than you think you will need as they take a beating bouncing up and down with every bump in the road. This seems especially the right one to me. As you can see in the last photo, a strut had broken. This happened pretty early on and on both wheels.

In the latest version, I have added in gussets and a second radius to connect the upper and lower struts. These have been hanging in there for several years now.

A week later than I thought, but was able to get out with the pickup today. Heavy rains washed the snow and such away making this possible today.
