Man...what a thread. Yes, the part about Clark Gable is true; after losing to Bob twice, he asked to buy Bob's car. Bob refused...Clark then sent Carole Lombard over to ask. (that was when she asked if another car could be built.) I was at a run about 8 years ago, there was a gent with a '35 Phaeton. Old, with patina...some custom work had been done, (skirts, steel wheels, caps, banjo steering wheel, dual exhaust) the owner had bought it from the Clark Gable estate. He said there were other cars that hadn't yet sold (at that time) I asked about a couple I knew about. The '55 TBird Clark had was sold in '59 to a friend of Florence 'Pancho' Barnes, when he was stationed at Edwards AFB, next to MUROC dry lake! 'Bird was unique, had been a HRM cover car with Mr. Gable and Big Bill Edwards pictured...there was a 4-71 blown Caddy in it. I'm hoping someone comes up with pics of the 'Gable Stable'. The '35 owner said there was a whole slew of 'em...
Same here. I am sitting at my laptop with the TV on and reading this post when I saw the movie name "Hot Saturday." I realized I just saw that****le on the movie listings. I flipped over to TCM, but there is only about a half hour left to go and I haven't seen the car yet.
I know this is an old thread and read the HAMB quite a bit. Does anybody know what spinners those are on the Model T that is used for the film "Hot Saturday Nights"? Does anyone know who built the car? Worth a shot on inquiring. Thanks,
