Not so stupid. Should be able to rev up an engine like that all day long no problem.

Except when the torque converter lets loose.

The pink explosion was directly in line with the torque converter and bell housing that sounded like glass when it shattered.

I guess with an automatic and I'm ASSuming that, he was revving it up with it a little more of an into neutral, rev, revvvv and back in gear kinda thing so maybe it didn't appreciate that...high revs back into drive sorta...lot easier with a clutch...

That's definately something that could and it did things that highlights a reason to be careful about what you do when out in civilian ville...and that wasn't even one of the more monster beasts that see street duty.

There was a Stude vid shared here recently and it launched on the Street lifting the front up and down and then lost it ripping the front suspension out...lucky no one was hurt there but again some of this is best to be Stripside...for these reasons...

I know they want to see rubber in all 4 gears but I guess we pick our style of wowing the crowds...yes lucky it had a hood and in this case running boards and fenders...the

Yep. Everyone knows we must gently drive our cars not to place unknown stress on any components.
No harsh use of the tires that would decrease the lifespan.
Under no circumstances should one engage in shenanigans that might cause the owner to get more joy out of the driving experience.
Accepted fact hat any sort of mechanical failure NEVER occurs if prudent driving procedures are followed.
As for my opinion...drive them hard...burn up a set of tires a year or less...fix what breaks and have a good time doing all of it.

My little brother Ronnie had a badass black 1972 Chevy Nova. 350 automatic. He drove it in our small town parade with a bunch of other cars. Apparently, the drivers had been told not to display any show of power. My brother gets to the main intersection of town right in front of the grandstand and the Master of Ceremonies. All he did was slip it into neutral and lightly stabbed the throttle once. Not so bad, but he clicked it into drive before the RPMs had come all the way down and his rear tires let out a little chirp. The Master of Ceremonies immediately began yelling...
    No show of power!

    Ok ok. Jeez...

Whatever it was it was instant and catastrophic. What a way to end the fun! And I am glad no one was injured. I suppose EV parades would be safer to be around, but very boring to watch.

If it was certain EV’s, it might have just burst into flames.

I wanna see the Stude video! Probably matches the the vid of a burnout that was the clutch and not the rear tires!

I miss those days of destroying a perfectly good motor while playing around :D

I sorta did the same thing and told this story in another thread somewhere but I was driving past a whole slew of pretty women that were walking to the big tennis tournament by my house and I decided to show off since they were looking and waving at me in my ‘51 Ford. I spooled it up to the outer limits while blowing the tires off of it and my 347 let go just past the crowd.

I split the block in half, broke the crank, cam and aluminum rods were all over the place. It was really ugly. Fortunately all the parts stayed in the engine bay and under the car but the fact that I was picking up parts whenever they walk past me to go into the venue was embarrassing as hell but funny at the same time.

The things people do to get noticed!
Guys tend to show off physically
Gals tend to use attire and makeup
Both can end up doing foolish things.
I'll bet those tennis ladies remember you to this day at least!:D
