I've seen them on a car in person and you wonder what the guy was trying to accomplish. Does he think someone will actually be fooled and say "Oooooooh, it has a flathead in it!" ????? When you see stuff like that it makes you look at the rest of the car in a different light IMO.

Kinda like those fake, empty 6.71 blower cases that were hiding a single four barrel underneath that some people were running some years ago. Either put a real blower on it or leave it alone. What I would have trouble doing is then confessing to some onlooker who thinks you actually have a blower that it is a fake.

I just find them amusing, like the Frederick's model showing off falsies and a Kardashi-***.
All the fake stuff pretty much belongs in the same category. For me, that also extends to blowers hiding carbs, finned drum disc brake covers, dummy spots and phony airscoops, empty continental spare styling touches, goofy landau bars on hardtops...

That's about as bad as it gets. Bad idea to design/produce and bad idea to buy/install.

It has been said "Only in America can you attache two things together that have never been before and sell them and make a pretty good living.". This is one of those items.

I don't throw fibergl*** bodies or fenders or hoods into that category though. If all the gl*** bodies and parts were to vaporize tonight a big percentage of the hotrod community would wake up to a bare running ch***is in their garage tomorrow morning. And some of them would surprise a good number of their friends when they called to tell them their fake car body had disappeared.

Fibergl*** makes the dream car affordable for those of us without the money or talent or time left in life to make "real" steel look decent and finish the project. Nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, gotta build a FG bodied rig [with faux patina] with a fake flatty, fake QC, dummy spots, non-functioning lakes, and all the stuff Zerk & others mentioned as well. We could even hang a fake clutch pedal in it to disguise the TH350...
