This hurts ! Cars you had but gone , cry tell show

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ragtop49, Nov 2, 2006.

  1. I cant tell you how many cars I use to have that I still want back ,
I have had over 200 hot rods in my time and 2 only two stick out here they are.

#1 1933 Ford 5 window (Hot Rod Hoodlum)I sold this car back in 1996 for $17,500 to purchase a new house I found the owner last year and tried to purchase it back but I would have to buy the house to get the car . It now resides in his living room as a show piece he built a new house around the car . I guess that is something quite unique and cool but it still kills me :(

#2 1950 Ford Kustom (Cheery Bomb). I sold this car to gentlemen in Indiana for the sum of $21,000 back about 5 yeras ago to start up a business . I no longer have this business and what a shame what a sweet ride this one was :(

1957 Chevy pickup, I just had to have it when I was 17. I drove it as a dailly for about 1 1/2 year while going to college. I just didn't have the means to do anything with it at the time.

Man what I could do to it now.......

If storage space wasn't a problem, I would still have them both.

  10. I really miss my first car; 1975 Opel Sportwagon. Hard to find now and it was a fun little ride.

I still miss my 1942 GMC 3/4 ton that was a daily driver. I haven't had an old driver since 1995 now and I got the DT's....

Man, my first hot rod was a 55 Chevy 2 door post. I bought it for $600 when I was 18, then I went away to college and my old man sold it because it took up space in the yard. There wasn't a spot of rust on it. :(

I like 49 chevys. first car I ever bought is a 49 coop... still have it after 30 years. few years back I bought this 49 4 door sedan. the plan was to "restore" it, except with the 350 and disc brakes, I was even going to raise itup to stock, and ad every stinking accessory I could find.

I sold it and several other cars to buy a peice of property, after 6 months of dicking around with appraisals and perk tests for septic and her getting the title squared away she raised the price from 35 to 50 K which put me out of the picture. I was going to keep this one forever and have a HOT ROD 49 coupe, and a sleeper 4 door.

  15. I miss a few cars...

66' Pontaic GTO Convertable, - 389 Tripower, that was burgandy over black
67' Pontaic Lemans Sport Convertable - GTO clone with a 389 Tripower, red on black
66' Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertable - 327, powerglide car in triple black
68' Dart GT Convertable - nice little 318 auto car with a mint black interior and top, and sunflower yellow paint
74' Valiant 4 dr - the sweetest riding little car, and was a good friends who passed away. I swapped in a 340, and drove it everywhere.
63' Dodge 330 2 dr post. White with a blue interior, /6 and a three on the tree - and zero rust anywhere!

I still have my first car which is never going to be sold, and am going to sell my camaro as soon as its done. The camaro will be one that I regret, but the money will be put into the house and finishing the 49' Chevy, which I am really starting to like.

I miss my 1970 4 door Buick LeSabre with a 455. It was bought el cheepo, and even with over 200 thousand miles it was a reliable old tank. We called it the Cruising Vessicle, or War Wagon. It could easily hold eight. and a few more if you had some small girls on laps.

My first ride! Still can't believe I sold it! My Dad bought me this rusty POS when I graduated 8th grade for 1200 bux! He walked me through every step until it was finished, 4 years later.

There wasn't a lawn within 10 miles I didn't cut to get money for this car.

Lesson learned: you can't put a price on sentimental value! Wish I still had it!

I loved my first car ... 69 Pontiac Bonneville. It was big, white, ugly and had 4-doors, but damn I loved that car. First car I caught air in, first car I raced and won a riceburner in, first car I got laid in, first time I learned about motors, first time I got a speeding ticket, first time for a lot of things. A tree fell on it one day in a windstorm and that ended our little love affair.

    Not to play "one upmanship."

In 1958 the woman across the alley from my parents house, stopped me one day; and asked if I knew anyone that would "haul away" a car that had been sitting in her garage since 1942.

It was her husbands; who had gone off to fight in the second world war, (and sadly didn't return) and she didn't drive.

She unlocked the garage, and low and behold sitting inside, covered in about 2" of dust, on 4 flat tires; was a
    1940 Ford Tudor Delux!!

I was "dumbstruck"; and mumbled something about, "Well, I'll even BUY it!"
I was driving a '39 Chev at the time. (miss it too!)

    $100.00 later!

She signed the car over to ME!
A set of new tires, a battery, some gas and a good wash job; it was perfect!!
Not a SINGLE DINT ANYWHERE!! He had taken very good care of the car.
As I recall it only had about 8,000 miles on it!

I drove that beauty all during high school and a couple of years afterward.
All I could afford to do to it at the time was paint it.

I started a small business, and sold the car for $500.00.
    I STILL regret doing THAT!
Everytime I see a '40 Tudor, tears well up in my eyes!

  25. Losing the car that way must have been a crushing experience.

I had to sell my 37 Chev convert to pay bills when my dad died-I looked for years for that car and would still have it today. 47 Ford convert, left hand shift, lowered on the ground, bought out of a desert wrecking yard and solid as a rock. I sold it to a good friend who had one in high school (he even kept the custom rear fenders off it), and said it was his dream car still. I sold it for what I paid for it ($175) because I knew it would be 2-3 years before I could do anything with it and he was really serious. Two weeks later he sold it (without calling me) for lots because he said his wife hated it. Unforgivable.

Really mis my old 34 Chevy Master Coupe. Got rid of it for the stupidest reasons. (kicks self in head)
Sold twice at least here in Houston since. Last heard it was torn completly apart and in someones garage. AAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Any of you Houston area HAMBers seen it??
Found the dash to it at a local swap meet. Tore me up to see it laying there and me with only a few bucks in the pocket. When I got it all it had was the body, frame and some drag suspension. (straight axle, olds rear, Gasser) took years to find all the parts (pre eBay)
