At least it seems so to me. A mental issue somewhat. I have reached a point in my build where I feel that I'm ready to take it all apart for finishing, paint and chrome and all of that. I find myself hesitant to start pulling it apart. I'm sitting here looking at it. I know it has to come apart but.... I want to drive it finished next summer.... What's wrong with me
Larry,I have been there and it's hard to take it apart when you finely have it so close to driving, but you know what you have to do,the sooner you get started the sooner you will be painting. HRP
Come up with one of those smart cocky answers you usually have for everyone else, maybe that will motivate you. Sounds like you are in the final stretch, this could be the most fun part and it will definitely go back together easier this time around.
That is funny really. Smart and cocky Me ? I'm motivated to get it finished so I can drive it. So, it will come apart starting right now.
Get after it! You are on the home stretch! I am deconstructing even as we speak (type).....but mine is for the first time....grinding rivets and taking off shit I wont be needing....about 18 or 20 more bolts and I am down to the bare bones frame.....getting ready to start in with the wire wheel and POR15 but probably not today.....and you think YOU have motivation problems? I am eons behind you before I can even think about driving this ol' car...... Cool looking car you have there!
Just Do It! The end result will be way more fun than it is now! It will be awesome when it's really finished. KK
Blue, if I was there, I'd slap your head and hand you a wrench...... AND make you buy the pizza! By the way....... what seats are those?
Have Moose or one of the other Photoshop wizards colorize it, sit back, look at the finished product, have a beer or two and then start tearin' it apart...... From the looks of it, it will be ready to reassemble before you know it!
As a quote attributed to Richard Nixon once said, "Time to $hit or get off the pot". Taking mine apart and putting it back together again over and over again seems to be the only accomplishment I ever make on my truck.
If everything is fit and finished this is the time to take it apart for paint. However, NeilinCa took one of the nicest HAMB built RPU apart for paint a few years ago and it looks to be lost to the ages. Bob
I think this one needs a little bit more than paint....looks like the engine is hollow, no wiring yet, etc. You'll get it done, some times you need to take a little breather before tackling the next phase. Just make it a little break, not a long one.
This is one of those jobs where the dread of doing it is worse than the actual task. It's going to snow soon anyway.
Just get a beverage of some sort put on some tunes. Open that damn tool box and just go at it piece at a time. Your dreading it because you want it now. Well hury up and it will be done sooner than you know it. It winter time anyways
Problem is to remember where you put things before and after paint...I still can't find a Dash that I KNOW is here SOMEWHERE!!!! The suggested photo shop is a good idea also the taking a little breather is good too..
After a building a few motorcycles and one roadster nothing gets taken apart for paint until its been on the road at least a summer to work the bugs out. Redoing paint or chrome can be costly.
Allow me. Well since it took 6 years to get it this far I can see why you wouldn't want to take it apart. At your age you'll forget how it goes together.
Looks like Larry just might be motivated. Blue One was last seen: Today at 3:49 PM Don't make a liar out of me Larry. HRP
I was there a couple of weeks ago. Tore it the hell apart, only took 2 days...and a bottle of Cap'n Morgans (my muse). Put yer back into it ya scallywag and you can still be driven er next summer, arrr!.
Thanks Fred, it's coming apart now, I promise. By the way, I like pizza. The seats are bombers that I had custom made by Frank Wallic in Colorado with pads I had made locally. The Y block sitting in there right now is a mock up block actually an almost complete 312. All that's missing are rods and pistons and rockers. I have the complete new engine that Tim McMaster built for me in the crate waiting. I'm motivated, believe me Danny. Since I was unable to kill that bothersome bug, I went back to the garage and removed a few small parts. I'm going to bag and tag everything and I have a plan where to put it all as I finish it piece by piece. After that I had to get to some honey do items but it will be back to it soon. Thanks guys I appreciate the motivational help. Larry
I won't forget . The six years thing is partially due to a couple of medical issues with surgery that cost me at least 2 of those years during which I could barely get out of the house and certainly couldn't get to the garage.. One of those things was a scary little thing called brain surgery, where I thought I was a goner and that someone else might have to finish this thing.
I'm diggin' those seats. I had bombers seats in my plans. Those look well made. Now......... GIT 'ER DONE!
