ive titled a car in Tennessee with Georgia paper work you have to have the bill of sale and the tag receipt

  2. Jeeze, for the 5 minutes it takes to "find" a bill of sale, who cares? Unless we're talking a high dollar car or something it doesn't make any difference to me - or the DMV, for that matter - as long as you have the right stuff and it looks good to the clerk.

And just like NY, GA does not issue titles for cars older than a certain year. You CAN'T get one from them. As I noted before, it varies from state to state how hard of a time they'll give you when you go to register a car from any other non-title state. Hell, sometimes it varies from DMV office to DMV office.

Read what Georgia Dept of Revenue says. The facts will set you free.

Georgia can be as backwards as people think, in my neighborhood you can register with a bill of sale and ins. Maybe not in the big city, but out in the country it's easy. And everyone here knows I'm a Yankee. To do it right you need the reg. and a bill of sale. You can use a plate instead of the reg. in most places. They may run for stolen, may not. And unlike Fla. they probably won't look at the vin tag.
