That truck needs something more elegant than zoomies...

Looks like he built the truck real nice with no thought to the exhaust then; "What the **** should I do about exhaust? Well Shine had Zoomies... I'll just turn 'em the other way to be different."

  8. I like the fact that it looks kinda cobbled together, like a lot of rods in the little pages, very much unlike the "perfect 21 century interpretation" of those rods everyone's building now. Looks like the real thing, only it's too nicely finished.

To me the only things that look cobbled together are the zoomies...

They look like a glaring departure from the over-all mid to late-50's theme of the truck.

I agree with the zoomie comments. That truck needs bed rail "belly burner" exauhsts to be perfect.

I like it just the way it is.

it has that model car box art from 1959 look to it, like a Lindbergh model. keen!

Haven't read the article in Street Rodder yet, but according to the article in the KOA's Styleline (back page in color) there's a reason for those zoomies. He styled the truck after one he lusted for and attempted to buy in his youth. That truck had .. you guessed it zoomies just like that. He's from southern Ohio so maybe he'll be at the Double Date this year.

  23. Those photo's are REAL nice. I like 'em!

Never liked Moon discs though, for styling. Kinda like "I left this space blank 'cos I couldn't think of anything to put there!"

I'd have a pickup like that in a flash. Lurvly!

Maybe but many of those cars in the little pages had incredible attention to detail. The zoomies look wrong from about every angle, like some wierd wings set to make the truck take off.

Why not build the truck as true to the over-all theme as possible. Building the best possible hot rod...

That's what almost all of those little pages cars were trying to do.

  27. He's got what he wants...good on him...sweet pickup!

The zoomies give it a playful..youth gone wild look.IMHO.

    Cheers

I like it! Kind of different to see front fenders and no back fenders. I'll be honest, I didn't even notice them until I looked at this post. I'm not a fan of zoomies, it needs headers w/ caps and a chromed bed rail exhaust system. That would be traditional!

  29. If it had black steelies and was painted matt black, i kinda reckon no one would complain about the Zoomies.
