Man.....I still gaze in awe every time I p*** it. I wish they still had the Ford letters on the stacks. It does look a bit different now, still if those walls could talk. Say what you will about Detroit.....but we made some bad *** ****........and the world looked to us when it came to Manufacturing. The employees made a comfortable wage that allowed them to own homes, go on vacations, buy the vehicles they made.....the middle cl*** dream....I pray our country gets back to those days before I p*** away and my children have an opportunity to live the American Dream

Notice the loyalty of the employees, the parking lot was predominantly full of Ford products. I don't believe you see that today. I live in Illinois and remember people going to Michigan to purchase a car just to save the destination charge which couldn't have been that much I imagine. Simpler times for sure but the fact that cars changed so much style wise and that all those dies had to be changed from year to year is hard to fathom.

We went and took the tour and watched them make Mustang's and Cougar's I believe. I was around 9 around 1970. The most lasting memory was the large sheets of glowing red steel.

I remember my Dad always bought 2 doors. They cost less to make so they cost less to buy. So all our Fords were cooler than the neighbors only cause they were cheaper. :D

No robots , no computers and the "line" is always moving.
Just imagine what it was like to work there. No slackers allowed.
    Henry Ford was a genius.
It's so sad to drive through Dearborn, Detroit and Pontiac now.

Thanks, highwayman. I learned some stuff from that that I had wondered about before. Like how the windshield gl*** was curved.
