    I loved the vid,an nice rod too !,But no,what are you thinking about his primer?.
    I'm sure not thinking ,he was always going to leve it unfinished. He has left it primer,more from never having finished it back in the day,so after not getting around to it,for so long,he desides to keep as is. That has nothing to do with what shiny color he may of had in mind early on,if asked,an didn't get too. Sure there were a lot that didn't get too shiny,but no one that put a lot work an pride into a car to show off an drive on the street,in the 50s or 60s thought primer was a finish or even looked good. Shiny was the finish. I know,I was there an building hot rods then,plus helping many others,in 3 car clubs,did more car shows then I can ever remeber all of.

    Dana, I really don't want to side track this thread with the "primer or not" debate. There are too many already. I think you may have misunderstood my comment.

    Wonderful story. I am sure Ron could tell a lot more tales to keep us enthralled for hours.

  15. First I'd seen the video HRP posted, cool stuff, and I'd never seen Elvis's Hot Rod either. Nice.

    Love that car. Here is a link to a bio of John Athen, (guy who built it in the '30's) and there's some video interviews with him and Ed Iskenderian too.

    https://ahrf.com/pioneers/john-athan

    (I couldn't find the youtube links, so you have to get them through this bio page, I think the videos might be private).

    Probably you guys have seen these already, but some may not have. Very interesting.

    @HOTRODPRIMER -

    Thanks for sharing the "American Rod & Custom" video ... I haven't watched it for several years.

    NOTE: In 2010, this video was posted in several H.A.M.B. threads (including HERE) ... and in 2009, @Hot Turkey started the Ron Stetter, an original hot rod story! H.A.M.B. thread which also included a (now defunct) version of the same video.

    Sweet car, only thing to make it better would be is go fenderless for real or get factory fenders. I never like the after thought fenders guys do.

    Perhaps, in his neck of the woods, they're required. Or, maybe he got tired of getting his car and himself soaked, when driving through a puddle or wet street.
