Sad to see this but a local street rodder and his wife were out for a cruise and slowed down to turn into a local hamburger joint when they got hit in the rear by a 5-T truck. Fortunately both were wearing seatbelts and came out with minor bruises. The very nice Model A not so well. It has yet to be determined if they will fix it or not . Insurance companys decision now.

Glad to hear all's well. Looks like a rough tumble for a street car, regardless of vintage. Gary

i have seen alot of accidents while in the volunteer fire dept and compared to some cars with full trunks and bumpers this hot rod took a licking and is still fixable who ever built this deserves more business glad to hear they are ok had this been a "R" rod the truck would have drove straight over it you can see the truck hit higher then the frame

What are they doing, painting bullseyes on hot rods lately ! How much more obvious can our cars be? They are loud, shiny, and we drive carefully, yet idiots keep running into them. God, that is sickening.

People drive like idiots these days and cell phones, texting, etc sure don't help. When ever I go cruising and my two Sons take their hot rods I always am the last car behind them. I figure if someone smacks into us I will take the brunt of it.

Holy crap!!! Glad they are okay. If getting hit in the back was not bad enough landing on its lid certainly did not help matters. Looked like it was a well built car which probably helped protect the occupants but man that hurts getting hit from behind like that.

Glad they are around to consider rebuilding it!!!

Big and orange -- no way insurance company for the truck driver can claim he couldn't see it! Hope they get a good settlement and can find what they need to rebuild.

i was expecting the black car from yesterday still waking up.. and i see this bright red/orange car on its lid.. man, the tin maybe old but if you build the car right they sure can take a beating. seat belts def saved them i think.. with out i i could see a broken neck or something.

  20. I think it did Great... held up from the impact and maintained integrity enough for the passengers to live!

Most couldn't take a hit like that... they'd be a bloody pile of rubble at the point of impact.

Besides that body is the only thing vintage on the whole car and I've seen worse saved.

I'm getting tired of these stories! How do civilians NOT see and HEAR our cars!!! I'm going to stay home from now on!! HAHAHA!

  23. Man that is scary... Its the start of fall bike rally here in Myrtle Beach, and this past Thursday a man and woman on a bike were waiting on a crossover (two lanes each way) when someone slammed into the back of them sending their bike into oncoming traffic. One of her legs was amputated at the knee. Very sad..... Jim.

I have to agree on both counts. That truck driver has a lot of explaining to do to say he didn't see the ORANGE Model A. It looks like a very well built car to begin with but I wonder if the stop lights may have been hard to see or if it is a stick car and the driver had his foot on the clutch and not on the brake to light up the brake lights. I just about nailed an ot ricer the other day because the driver was sitting at the light with his foot on the clutch an no foot on the brakes to light up the huge brake lights on that car.

This is why you maintain enough distance to the vehicle in front of you and pay attention. No way you should ever run into the rear of a vehicle.

Glad there weren't kids or another couple in the back seat. Dood jambs look square, wonder if the car had upgraded door latches. Glad they all walked away from it.

I too would like to know. It doesn't look top-heavy. Maybe it hit a rut when it was bunted off the pavement?
