I am a dummy . Doing our 32 roadster. Mocked up the rebuilt F100 steering with some poorly constructed split wish bones. Every thing worked well together. Couldn’t stand the poorly constructed wishbones. So fitted some nice Curtis style hair pins. Didn’t even realise the clash of the drag link with the hair pins until we fitted the brakes. Hmm this isn’t going to work . Tried searching for something similar but alas I must be on my own with this dumb mistake. Will go the same as our other 32 steering , 37 type cross steer , tie rod and drag link between the hair pins and better geometry . As the chassis is boxed we made some beefy crush tubes to go right through , don’t want any hidden fasteners as far as steering goes. Might add a panhard or dead perch. Don’t worry about the hair pin bolt sticking way out ,just slipped it out to get the F100 pitman arm off. IMG_4101.jpeg IMG_4102.jpeg

It's like the steering is on the wrong side of the car! :)

Oh well...you win some, you come in second on others.

Turn the steering arm over and put the drag link on top.

Now yer on to something! Get rid of the tie rod, keep both steering boxes, connect the two columns by a chain, and you've got your solution to clearing the hairpins or wishbones, whichever way it ends up. Okay back on my meds now...

I've heard about the strict engineering down there.
The steering arm could be heated and bent up some, further messing with the bump steer.
The drag link could have a kink in it, but that's not great.
Could the hairpin mount drop some?
Universal fit doesn't always actually fit.

  9. Pass on that ride, thank you!
