I'm ***uming you mean a BOP TH400? In that case, you will have to use an adapter to bolt a SBC up to it. TCI makes an adapter that sells for under $100, or you could probably make one yourself, if you're inclined to.
If it has the Chevy bolt pattern, yes. You'll want the appropriate SBC starter & a 168-tooth flexplate. If you can't figure out which starter to use, then try one for a '68-'74 SBC/automatic Corvette. If the TH-400 has the B-O-P pattern, then no. They make adapters....but it's cheaper/easier just to get a Chevy pattern case from the boneyard, IMHO.
65 pontiacs used the TH400 with the Buick-Olds-Pontiac bolt pattern bellhousing, you'd need an adapter or a different trans case. or keep the th400 with the pontiac motor, and put a th350 in the car
