Man...I gotta tell ya. I really don't remember the last time cars left an impression on me like those guys. I ws lucky enough to run into them at this year's Ty-rods show & managed to get a good GOOD look at the cars they came in with. Now, I saw them last year as well but either I wasn't paying attention, or just plain old wasn't SMART enough to realize what I was looking at. The stance, the smell (ok...MAYBE that was from their ride from New York)the sound, the at***ude......they just got it. That...and the guy I talked to who's name escapes me....strike me as "good people". If you ever run across these cars in person....pay attention. Pay close attention.
$10.00 I'm cheap.....and easy. Tony....I know what your sayin.....but my old magazone collection just doesn't sound the same....or have the same "feel" as being there....if that makes any sense.
I happened to be taking a photo of the 575 coupe the minute it fired up to head for home. The sound of that flatty with straight pipes sent shivers up my spine. My folks were there with me, and I shot a glance at pops who had the same look on his face as I did. Mom looked at us like we were nuts. I ithink she's right. But going crazy over an unmuffled flatty is a good way to go. BTW, Richie, it was good to meet you. I still find myself chuckling about the poor guy who p***ed out from the migraine in your shop. "What, it's 2:30 already?" "Yea. On FRIDAY." Oh man, that cracks me up. Did you take any photos with a digi cam, or were you packin' real film like me? I need another fix.
I didn't see them handing out any money. I would have been first in line. When you see those cars in person, you don't need money to say good things about them.
So we're hanging out by the cars at Ty-Rods when one of the guys says "did you hear that kid, he said gow like it rhymes with cow." The discussion that ensued was based on the proper pronunciation of gow. Some (the older you were the more likely to subscribe to the belief) are adamant that gow rhymes with low. The post 1940s youngins' insist it rhymes with chow. So what is it? gow-kart go-wagon. I prefer Hot Rod myself.
They came from the Bonneville 2005 Coverage here on the Web. (They are in My file also. I was there but did not get enough photos. Too Busy working on the team cars. 806 D/GL and 1986E/STR ) Also know as Having CUBIC FUN.
Larry-Seems to me that the money has been changing hands the other way in your case. I prefer to think that Gow rhymes with chow, as in, I like to chow the fabulous chicken known as General Gao (Gow). If it rhymed with 'low', they probably would have just called it a 'go job.' Can you still hear that flatty rumblin'? Oh boy.
They look cool and all... but I'd like to see one PAINTED and CHROMED after the whole PATINA fad dies out. Sam.
Thanks for posting those Larry! General...it was great meeting you...I had a blast yesterday. I took about 3 rolls of "****og" film....but the girl where I get my pics developed is gonna burn them to a cd for me....I'll post them as soon as I can. We'll have to convince Deyo to go to that show in Marion & yeah....I don't think that guy has forgiven me yet. Sam....I hear you...but I'd kind of like to see these cars stay the way they are....after the fad dies.....ya know?
I remember Gray Baskerville wrote a couple of times about a rhyme from the old days: "Fords for gow, Chevys for plow." I'd take Our Ol' Dad's word as gospel on this one.
Larry, I'll bail you out on this one...those pics are mine. I delivered a disc with all 270+ pics I took on the trip to each of the guys at ty-rods yesterday. Just a side note: my car is about 4 hours and a good test run from being back on the road after the T5 swap. I did a good test run on jacks this morning. Man, that ****** shifted so smooth, I was tempted to take her around the block with the body bolts just dropped into the frame holes. I don't know how accurate that Model A speedo is, but at 80 ( as high as it goes) it was taching 2500.

Ooooh, I hadn't thought about Friday. Okay then, dibs on Friday night! Even better. Now I'm not gonna sleep all freakin' week. Thanks a lot.
I'll bail you out on this one...those pics are mine. I delivered a disc with all 270+ pics I took on the trip to each of the guys at ty-rods yesterday. Paul, looked at the disc over and over. Picked out my new wallpaper.THANK YOU! Can you guess? Were you there for the gow-gow thing? If "Fords for gow, Chevys for plow" is Baskerville's I could find no reference to it on the WWW. If I could find it in print attributed to him I'd love to rub it in an unnamed party's nose.
Paul, looked at the disc over and over. Picked out my new wallpaper.THANK YOU! Can you guess? Were you there for the gow-gow thing? Ron, My guess it's one of these. No, I missed the gow-gow thingie. But I like the rhyme with cow thing. Glad you liked the disc. I can't wait for chapter II, but that's a year away.
Uhhh...Paul...is that Ron in his undies? I thought Ryan said no ****. What's a guy gotta do to get one of those discs of yer road trip? Hmmm? PM me.
It's the hoods... That's the "look".... '32 sedans (fenderd or not) need a hood, anyway. Nice cars, but, certainly, nothing new. ...and, yes... you can chop a car too far. JOE
