    i would like some input please. i am thinking of finishing my 47 dodge in the old dirt stock style, re: no fenders, pipe and channel iron front and rear bumpers ect. now i know we build our rods to our own taste but i would like some expert input. i dont want to build something that people will laugh at or turn their nose up at. what do you guys think? also, if i go this style of build, what would all of the fenders, hood, bumpers, body trim , grill and so forth be worth? thanks

    Umm....since you asked, STEP AWAY FROM THE DODGE SLOWLY AND KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!
    I'm having a hard time thinking of anything uglier than a '47 Dodge done up that way. Nope, can't do it.
    Now, if you really really want it, then go for it. If you feel it deep down inside it'll probably come off with a cool vibe. But if you're really just floating the idea around, keep floating! I personally could make a pretty bitchen kustom from a '47 Dodge, and they also look good mostly stock with a healthy drop and a nice rumbly motor in there. But no fenders? No sir! (And what would you do about the fact that the doors bulge out to meet the front fender line??)
    All that sheetmetal isn't worth all that much. Not enough to warrant what you're considering.

    I didn't even think to ask: this is a two-door coupe or sedan, right? In solid, unwrecked condition? How about a photo??

    Nope, If it were me I'd go for a lowering job, some updated suspension with good shocks and brakes and a small block Mopar w/a 4-5 speed or torqueflite. the track look just doesn't fit in with this body style IMO.

    No thank you...but if you decide to sell your rear fenders and they're in nice shape I'll give ya $50 bucks for em...

    wow! it seems like its not such a good idea. thats why i asked. thanks anyway. its time to rethink i guess. more info, 318 installed, disc brakes installed, interior done, [sort-of], door jambs cut in, new wiring installed, new driveshaft made, ect. was just looking for finishing ideas. oh, by the way, whats wrong with a 47 dodge?

    Sounds like you've got a great start on the Dodge, but I don't think that fenderless is the way to go. Especially the way the fenders flow into the body. Mild custom would be nice, or just lower it and leave the body alone. I think you'll be much happier.

    DO IT!! There’s probably way too many tastefully lowered fat Mopars anyway.

    Done well, it could look great.....Doesn't matter what you build there will always be people who laugh and turn their noses up.
    (Just "lean on them" in a corner on the way home or give them a little nudge on the back quarter ....that'll take the smiles off their faces.)<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="Picture_x0020_1" o:spid="_x0000_i1026" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif" style='width:12pt; height:12pt;visibility:visible;mso-wrap-style:square'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Susie\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif" o:title="eek"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]-->:eek:

    Besides... if it doesn't come out well and look as good as you imagined.. take to a race track and flog the guts out of it.:D
