    My poor old coupe has looked the same for the last 6 years or so, except the cheap paint isn't looking nearly as good as it did back when the paint as new. My family went to a show yesterday, my son drove his car, my grandson drove his car, and my wife and I went in the coupe.
    We had a great time. Comments about the coupe's paint were non-existent, or at least I didn't hear any, and it probably was one of the rougher looking cars there. It really would not have bothered me if everyone there would have been complaining about my paint, I know it isn't pretty, but I paid my entry fee just like all the others, if the promoters didn't want me there they would have told me not to come back next year, or they would not have let me in this year. I paid to show my car, and show it I did.
    I'm really thinking I might repaint the car over the winter (another self applied cheap paint job), only maybe I'll change the color, maybe next year everyone will think its a new car to the show...
    But the reality is, my car was built to drive. This is the end of its 7th summer on the road, and we have driven it over 60,000 miles. I really don't care what others think of my car. Gene

    I can't remember if they did, but I had "old guys" (at least my age now:rolleyes:) tell us we ruined a great antique with the wheels etc!
    It was our first "rod" had it 4 1/2 years,60,000 miles, raced it,pulled ski boat all over country, and everyday driver. Not up to level as a lot of cars, but it worked for us!
    BTW, at that race day in the pic, a 62 Impala with a 409 4 spd beat me by 1/2 car length! It was only 1/8 mile, but I was surprised I did so well !

    According to the HAMBictionary;
    POWER PARKER - adjective, noun modifier. A typically derogatory term used mainly by those that arrive late to car shows and are forced to park in the back near the outhouses to describe the drivers that have nothing better to do than to show up early and get the best parking spots.
    used in a sentence- "wow, here we are in the last row again while the damn power parkers are all up front in their lawn chairs sitting in the shade working on their second beer".

    "Power-Parkers" often used to refer to those who, "Because THEIR car is SO much better than the other cars", position their vehicle so as to take up more than one space ( & often obstruct other cars from view), usually get VERY upset when they don't "trophy" at the end of the day(The judges didn't like us, so they voted against us/ the judges didn't know how to judge/ etc...…) A very good reason I don't go to shows anymore.
